New Coolant overflow tank

Hi, Everyone seems to use different terminology for this so what I am talking about is the secondary tank that is usually behind the numberplate flap NOT the main coolant header tank. I need to fit one to my 1z TDI conversion as I don't have the original so need to buy a new one and fit somehwere in...

Re: Turbo advice

As Bus buddy said you really need to check for fault codes, presuming your obd2 port works. Ideally using vagcom/vcds but a cheap fault code checker may work. Thats probably what the mechanic will do anyway. There are so many things that could cause this as it sounds like the engine is in limp mode.

Re: Interior out to weld new sill?

Also, some more info that may help is that after reading about this I crawled underneath and the inner sill looks ok, which is odd because the very bottom part of the outer sill was pretty much disintegrated. Also, I had the panel off a while ago inside and I looked for rust and couldn't see anythin...

Re: Interior out to weld new sill?

Thank you, here are some pics. notice the liberal application of vactan after i scraped the paint off the other day. As you can see I haven't yet picked apart the bubbly bits, I'll save that fun for after the MOT if it makes it through. The big bubbly bits on the seams, do you think that'll definite...

Re: Interior out to weld new sill?

Thanks for the replies guys, I think I'm going to take the van to the tester to get a pre-mot check over to see if he thinks it'll fail on the sill. If not I'll get it through the MOT and then start prepping the van for some proper rust treatment/new panels. The time has come where I need to stop pu...

Interior out to weld new sill?

Hi, its coming up to MOT time and I know the outer sill at least is completely rotten, so I was wondering whether I would have to remove the interior for somebody to weld a new sill or does it depend how high they have to weld up to? I can add some pics if that would help?

Thanks

Re: Paint code

I have a van in that colour too (slate blue) and was going to go down the rustoleum route. VW codes don't match RAL codes. Some people have been getting custom colours mixed up by "Avenue Coatings". I emailed them and this was their response: HI Harry I am sorry to say this is one colour w...

looking for T25 friendly mechanics in West Cornwall

Hi,

Having not lived in the area long I was wondering if anyone knows of any good mechanics in West Cornwall? I live in St Ives but willing to drive to get to a good one as I'm sure you all know a good mechanic to do stuff to your van is like gold dust.

Cheers

Re: Ex German Army T3 Conversion To Camper.

Hi, yes I bought this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/T25-VW-CAMPER-3-PART-ROCK-AND-ROLL-FULL-WIDTH-FOAM-SET-/350472660385?pt=UK_Campervan_Caravan_Accessories&hash=item5199cc65a1 It does make for a very firm bed but its pretty comfortable. Thicker would of course be more comfortable but I didn't ...

Re: Ex German Army T3 Conversion To Camper.

Hi, your interior looks so good! I've been planning to use birch ply for mine. What thickness ply did you use? Also, will you be treating it with oil or anything? Cheers

Re: Regluing interior carpet onto to fibreglass top

I can't think why that wouldn't work as it would be a kind of thermal underlay. You would need a lot more glue but that's not too much of an issue. you have to use quite a lot of the spray glue, I'd say about two tins for the whole of the roof (mine is a tin top) so with the insulation stuff maybe 4...
