Re: 3D printer files for rear air scoops

In the late 1970's the Leyland Brothers ran into overheating problems. They had their Kombies fully loaded with gear for the TV production and stuff for extended outback travel. I recall they sought advice from the VW engineers provided them with Kombies with modified body work such that the vents a...

Re: 3D printer files for rear air scoops

Printed a gauge pod on a Bambu setup with a P1S printer using ABS filament at the Makerspace (Markerspace.org) in the city this morning. Apart from the decision to strengthen the walls and then having to sand out the inside to fit the gauge (52mm tacho) in, it was a great learning experience. The pr...

Re: 3D printer files for rear air scoops

Last of the air-cooled, 2l EFI. Tin ware is all good, choke works and redirects once warmed up. Grommets etc almost 100% good.  Engine temp is normally quite good and rarely do we have to modify driving due to heat. It was ridiculously hot when we took that holiday. Roads were fry-an-egg hot, prehea...

3D printer files for rear air scoops

Hi all. I'm keen to try out rear air vent scoops (ears) on our van and am searching for .stl files so I can print some out. Don't know much about the tech involved but I've enrolled in an intro course at the Makerspace this weekend aiming to leave with a gauge pod for a tacho. Have search thingivers...

Re: Headlights blow indicator fuse

Thanks Mocki, guess it's time to learn more about the electrics. Good news is it's not the headlight relay (cause they don't have one). Not sure if it's on the headlight circuit or the indicator. Indicators work fine when fuse is good. Does this suggest short is on HLs? But why would that take out i...

Headlights blow indicator fuse

1982 EFI 2l air-cooled. Upgraded headlight relays.  Upgraded the headlight wiring a few years ago now with power straight to headlights via fuses and relays (modified Heritage Parts rig). Haven't done much night driving but it all seemed OK. Took the van to Kangaroo Island for a couple of weeks. Eve...
