Re: elite vw replacement

No Elite didn't it took me a while to get hold of them then I got fobbed off regarding them having a look. They eventually agreed to collect the van which I was more than happy to pay for the collection, come the day of collection no one turned up, none of my calls with voicemail or emails were retu...

Re: elite vw replacement

hm as I;ve mentioned several times since the hassle I had with them last year, I would never ever use them or reccomend them to anyone. All you get an engine put together from several other engines and painted nicely, if any feels liek it you can have a look at soe of my posts from last May. However...

Re: Engine from EliteVW

All I will say is they are great if all you want is an engine put together using parts from several other engines and a nicely painted engine.

remember the old saying you pay for what you get, some have been lucky, but many others haven't

Not sure if it will help you at all, but here is a pic of my CT lump to give you some idea, does look like the wrong dizzy you have though and your vac pipes all look like there in the wrong places. http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh298/Aapkirk/random/11092010097.jpg http://i259.photobucket.com/a...

Re: Cold weather = shagged starter batteries...

If anyone has a costco card there batteries work out even cheaper and there bosch jobbies, last year I had to buy one for the transit (yeah I know) Halfords was £125, Halfords trade was around £70 but costco was £58 inc VAT. Sorry not much help to those with no costco card, but if you know someone w...

Re: Who would do this?

Elite engines are so cheap cos all they do is re-assemble them from different engines and pait them a nice colour in my case it was silver.

Lesson learnt if its cheap its for a reason

Re: Wont start!

Is the van parked on a level ground, if not you could try pushing (lol yeah I know) it so that the front end is higher up. Could be that the fuel pump isn't strong enough to pull what little fuel is in there up to the carb. I've had cars inthe past where they need a good 10l before they even think a...

Re: air cooled spark plug.

put plug in plug socket and twist. if your only doing it by hand then you can't cross thread it. So it up hand tight then just nip it up with the ratchet. The only time I;ve had an issue was when the tinware was out of place, but apart from that it should be quite simple, If it feels tight then some...

Re: Engine bay seal

Right as promised pics You will need to buy 4m to go round the Aircooled tinware. This is the seal: http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/images/ETS1395big.jpg http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh298/Aapkirk/random/11092010093.jpg As you can see it is different to the original seal, but its actually slightl...

Re: Engine bay seal

Well it arrived today and looks great, just perfect, but 2m is nowhere near enough, your going to need at least 3m if not 4. if it stops raining later i'll go have a play with it, but i'll probably just use some of the old seal thats in good condition to make up the length I need
