Re: Camping with a dog.
Is there a theme starting here.? I too have a couple of large old lurchers who sleep in the awning often curled up on or even in kids sleeping bags. They travel on cushion over engine cover as like warmth.Sleep for most of journeys although occasionally will open an eye if we are stuck in traffic. T...

Re: Late sliding door different to early ones???
Yup as everyone says later doors will not fit easily.
I tried to find one for my van at reasonable cost but could not.I ended up repairing mine.
Cost about £150 after painting.
I can`t remenber what model year they changed might have been 85 onwards?
I am sure someone will know!
Good luck.

Re: Aircooled - Vege recon engine noisy - tappets?
Thanks, Did you have any fitting issues with them? Do they have cold start chokes or is it just a case of pumping throttle a few times and having lumpy idle when cold? Air filter provision.Did you use standard air box or individual flat pancake air filters? Any clearance issues to engine cover? Blim...

Out of interest,
How do you find running twin 40 Dellortos?
Am considering these carbs for my a/c.
Hope your adjustments re hydraulic lifters work.Mine is a touch noisy for first 5miles or so especially after been standing a week.

Re: Khyam Driveaway Awning, what a doddle
Sorry to hear about your woes, Mine is the tunnel awning style with just 4 main poles and small upright poles for porch/sun canopy. We had some heavy rain and strong winds one night (in addition to the kids after a curry) and no probs what so ever. Quality seems good to me. Hope you sort things out....

Re: Aircooled - Water in engine oil
Hi, Tis true.It is condensation in the oil caused by too many short journeys and perhaps aging oil. A good long run should help reduce it and much more frequent oil changes will be needed! My old air cooled motorbikes also suffer from this as I am now only a fair weather wimpy rider and only do infr...

Re: Help me learn what I should be looking for re condition etc!
Hi, Good luck but tread very carefully. As all the experts say on this fantastic forum.Bodywork is everything!! I bought my van 5 years ago for £2500 after the last owners spent £5000 on body work and respray and another grand on mechanicals. I think they lost faith in it. But I have had to spend an...

Re: lighting a 2 way fridge on gas
Interesting, I have been trying this on my fridge as the van is back from having some body work done. My fridge lits up on gas fine. I can see the flame in the sight window but as soon as I release the pressure on the button it goes out. I have tried releasing the button slowly and have tried pressi...

Re: speedo not working
Hi, Speedo drive is crude in the extreme.Cable pushs through square shaped boss in passengers wheel centre cap and is held in place with a circlip. The cap if damaged or square hole worn to round shape will allow the cable to spin in the cap hence no speedo reading. In addition circlip can wear and po...
