flywheel is off the engine, what if number one piston is at the top of its barrel, surely that is top dead centre

forgot to mention, the buzzer of doom was going for this entire 5 mile journey, and seemed as if the engine had tightened

my oil pump gave up the ghost and i drove home, i've investigated and the cylinder head has very thick oil in it, the cam shaft turns but not as easy as it should, can i just clean it up tip some fresh oil in and hope it will work ok?

just done mine, popped the white stopper out and hey presto! it works!

part number is 251121397G and 251121399G and they retail at £52 each plus vat from volkswagen, i know cos i keep all my reciepts......what a geek!
