Any decent but basic sites within 30 miles of Brighton?
Evening All! Was wondering if anyone could recommend any campsites within 30 miles or so of Brighton? The sis-in-law wants to go camping for her birthday with a few friends (all tenters) and would like us to go... but all of the sites they usually go to are tents only or fully booked now! We only ne...

Re: "Dying Swan" Wiper!
Cheers! Didn't realise it'd be that simple... Had visions of it being attached quite differently! As soon as I went outside and had a close look I found the little cover thing and felt a bit of a div! As it turns out once I accessed the nut it seemed a little loose so I figured before fannying aroun...

"Dying Swan" Wiper!
Morning Guys I had a bit of a nightmare yesterday when one of the windscreeen wipers stuttered, stuck... and then swung bonnetwards. I've done a quick search on here and found the thread about refreshing the splines etc. How do I get the wiper off to access all the bits I need to look at. I know it ...

Blue Khyam Annexes available again... limited supply though
Hi All I know a number of people on here have the Khyam Motordome and I remember hearing talk about the annexe extensions... anyway I've been waiting to get hold of a 2009 (Blue) version, and Khyam now have them in stock allbeit a limited supply. Just thought I'd give you a heads up if you were afte...

Lack of power where there used to be oomph!
Morning Guys I was wondering if anyone could help me diagnose what's potentially wrong with my van... 1985 1.9 DG Was driving a route up the country that I'm more than familiar with, and at any incline (and I don't mean massive hill!) I had my foot to the floor and was still losing speed... and not ...

Re: Bodywork advice needed please... *UPDATED*
Not entirely sure yet but Paul (mechanic) knows the extent to which the piggy will cough up... (there have been a couple of extras workwise since the initial quote so will get the bill this week!)

Re: Bodywork advice needed please...
*** UPDATE *** Well after waiting for what seemed like an eternity the bodywork on the van is almost done!!! In the end I found a local VW specialist who quoted a good price and had a good recommendation from a neighbour with a Bay. Took it in on Thursday 12th August... This is how it looked on the ...

Re: awning skirt
Agreed..
I made ours for the grand sum of a fiver I think... old/cheapo groundsheet and a length of bungee cord that goes over fron and rear wheels. Works really well.

Re: Fried Plugs - engine too hot!
Cheers guys. So 3 things to mention to the mechanic then really.. timing, mixture (which he had ummed and arred about a bit today) and correct plugs. I'm away from home (and the van) for a few days now so cannot check what's on it - but what plugs should it have if it is a DG as Ian 99% suspects??? ...

Re: Fried Plugs - engine too hot!
Have just had another quick squizz for the engine number but the area you refer to is covered in gunk and I'm in clean mode - about to go to work so it'll have to wait until i'm back in a few days. Regarding "setting the choke" I've got into the habit (be it good or bad!) of depressing the...

Re: Fried Plugs - engine too hot!
See the black tower thing where you wrote 'star' on pic 2 there's a flat area facing the back of the van, behind the adjuster bracket, the engine number's there. It appears to have a Pierburg carb so it's probably a DG (it has the early exhaust and cooling system btw  ). The number you show i...

Re: Fried Plugs - engine too hot!
Well I've taken a couple of pics to help explain myself... I don't profess to know anything much at all about engines! Looked for the engine code a while ago and came up against a brick wall... couldn't find a DG or a DF or any other prefix.... I'm probably looking in the wrong place though knowing ...
