Re: Pierburg 2E3 rebuild - got a couple of issues

Just added another item to the To-Do list: The float has put on a little weight over the years. The Pierburg guidance says 5.85g +/- 0.1g My float weighs in at about 7.85g That is about a 33% weight gain. The Pierburg guidance says that the incorrect float level can cause issues with: Warm starting ...

Pierburg 2E3 rebuild - got a couple of issues

Hi folks Doing my first Pierburg 2E3 carb rebuild after a good read through all the great supporting material. https://img.techpowerup.org/190622/pierburg-2e3-h.jpg Things are looking nice and clean, but before I put it back together I have two issues to resolve: 1. I think the throttle body heater ...

Re: Not starting!!!! Priming Fuel pump?!?!

We've just had something similar happen on Monday when the van (1.9l water cooled DG) was due to go for it's MoT. :( The van started OK and then cut out and wouldn't start. It had all the symptoms of no spark. Turned out to be a clogged fuel pipe. If you're interested this is what I did: Checked the...

Re: Failed MOT - windscreen washers!

Hi Folks MoT time tomorrow - and the washers wouldn't squirt. I checked the fuses OK. Then I searched on-line and found this thread. Thanks to mr_clarkson who wrote: if you cant find the pipes, just go under the passenger side footwell and look straight up, that is the washer bottle, you can a) undo...

Re: How bad is this rust?

If yours has a fridge - take out the bottom vent and check for rust there too.

Ours was in a similar state and I managed with a couple of friends to fix it OK.
But if you add up the evening class in welding, MIG kit + GAS and the time £400 to fix it is a good deal.

Best of luck.

Re: Thermostat housing leak (1987 1.9 petrol DG)

Thanks
I can see that the thermostat housings are different:
025 121 115 has an extra pipe
025 121 115 A does not have an extra pipe.

So I if I cannot repair it or find the right part I could use a 115 and blank the extra pipe.

Re: Thermostat housing leak (1987 1.9 petrol DG)

Thanks Mark that looks like it.

Is there any difference between 025-121-115 and 025-121-115 A ?

Cheers

Thermostat housing leak (1987 1.9 petrol DG)

Hi Folks I've just found a small coolant leak from the thermostat housing. It looks like the mounting bolts or washers have rusted and the resulting expansion cracked the housing. Now I've cleaned the muck off I can see the part number: 025-121-115 A Thermostat Housing, 2WD 1986 to 1991 (Justkampers...

Well the panel is off. :) I used a mallet - and I still managed to crack the paint a little at the back corner. As you tap the panel up, gently, you need to pull the bottom of the panel out so that the panel brackets clear the brackets on the van. Starting at the front and working backwards s...

Removing body panel that covers the sliding door track?

Hi folks - de-rusting the bus is going well but I've come up with a snag. How do I remove the little body panel that covers the sliding door track? I've managed to get the two retaining screws out. I can see with a mirror that the upper edge is retained somehow. What do I do next - tap it upward wit...
