Re: Broken down by loch ness :(

Are you sure you put petrol in instead of diesel?

Seems strange that all was well until you filled up with fuel.

Alternatively contaminated fuel, could you pull off the fuel filter pipe from the tank and run some fuel into a clear jar and see what it looks like?

Good luck.

I can vouch for this form of construction, some bathroom units I made when I was 14 are still in use 35 years later! 1 thing I would recommend is to really wet the hardboard with water and a brush till it darkens, leave it for 20 mins or so, then fix it to the frame. This way the board expands befor...

Westy Roof Help Please!

Hi, I am in the process of fitting a Westy roof to my van. I got it from Syncronutz, and the guys were really helpful with advice. It is all fitted now and opening and closing well, (and staying leak free!) However, its very heavy to lift. Is there a way to give it more lift by adjusting anything, o...

Starter motor

Hi, my 1983 DF was getting hard to start, I thought it could be the starter bush. However, when I stripped down the motor, the copper braided cable was badly connected to the solid wire on the motor. There seem to have been a crimp type connection, but it has corroded and broken. My question is, can...

Found the fault, the ignition leads were shot.
I had been told by the seller that they had been changed.

Going like a train now!

Stutter

I have also noticed that there is a vibration when in top gear, its fine in 3rd, but at the same speed there is a definite 'buzz' type vibration in the van.
I have changed the little pipes around the carb and distributor, which were porous.

Many Thanks :?:

Yes, I have changed the petrol filter. When I got the van, the petrol cap was missing, and it was raining. Could it be water in the tank, and if so, is there a way of flushing it out?

Thanks

Stutter

1983 1915cc DF LHD Reimo Conversion My first post. The van pulls well, but sometime there is a 'stutter' as if the brakes have come on a little. (This can happen even on the level). The power drops off for a while, then on the next downhill it seems to get its breath back. I have changed filters, che...
