Re: Tyre load rating
Yes mate, 215 is the width in mm / 50 is the aspect ratio % of that 215 so would be 107.5 / R17 is the rim size, So going from 205/50 to 215/50 on paper adds 5mm of hight to the van but 10mm in total diameter. But it wont change much on the mating face of the tyre to rim it will just "stretch...

Re: Tyre load rating
The only thing I can think it to move to a 215/50 and you'll find a 95 rated and that should also be the same diameter as the 245/45, I'd imagine you have a 8.5J on the back and 7J on the front with them tyre sizes Will changing to a 215 on the front cause it to catch anywhere? There’s not much cl...

Re: Tyre load rating
So I’m searching for tyres to fit these alloys at a reasonable price I’ve come across some for the front with 93 load rating but the ply is classed as extra load For the rear I can get them in 99 load rating with the ply being classed as extra load I take it those should be ok? The tyres that are o...

Re: Running lean
Hi mate, I rebuilt my carb not that long ago, With the rebuild kit its rather simple and theres a good video on youtube to follow I've attached at the bottom, the same guy also does the assembly video else where. The mixture screw is rather easy to get to if you know where to put your screw driver...

Re: High top to pop top
Last night feel's like I didnt get much done, but I treated any little spots of rust with some Kurust and got any of the silicone off the roof and out of the gutters, tonight is a night off due to the Mrs graduating from Uni. So will be back at it tomorrow with the orbital sander and getting a nice ...

Re: High top to pop top
They’re fairly straightforward to fit , I’ve retro fitted a few Westy roofs , I find the easiest way to align everything is to get the front latch in , that’s partly why you need to trim the roof hole , the latch goes through the front roof reinforcing I'll get square frame on, I haven't got the Ge...

Re: High top to pop top
There are some brackets available to bolt the hinges in and reinforce the roof, I did a roof conversion last year The high top you have is aftermarket so much easier to remove and luckily it’s sound underneath You can cut a much bigger hole out too Where can I get these? Been looking online all nig...

Re: High top to pop top
Good move! The ‘upturned boat’ thing never does it for me despite the case for its practicality. Once you’ve done with the top of the van you’ll just need to turn your attention to the lower part and have a look at what lies behind the ‘hovercraft skirts’ ! Keep up the pics. Practical yes, but pers...

Re: High top to pop top
So, some updates so far Got the roof unbolted and it just lifted away, turned out to be easier than expected: https://i.imgur.com/rzYAdxk.jpeg Got all the wooden frame off and got a good look at the roof, seems 99% solid with one minor issue: https://i.imgur.com/eL668oX.jpeg The minor issue, more we...

Re: High top to pop top
Well, Thanks you three, have confirmed my question of which way is the best approach! Will set to remove the high roof and go from there. Too answer a few points, Favours can run out and relationships sulleyd. Seems a bit retrograde to remove a high top for a pop top, but if that's waht you want...
