Thanks for the reply

checked the fuel filter and didnt have a problem there,seemed to be enough fuel getting through, started and ticked over as usual just struggled when under load. Now this problem seems to have gone but acceleration feels lumpy and even more powerless than usual

Hi I had my first ever breakdown the other day. Basically the engine failed every time I pressed the accelerator but ticked over fine. I was recovered by the AA who couldnt find a problem but said it could be the fuel pump or ignition amp. Took it to my usual garage who couldnt find any problem but ...

Thanks for all the help! It seems to be working now...I put it together with the pin in the spring ,twisted the cover untill the flap was shut and now its working fine :D the reason I decided to referb my carb was a popy backfireyness on declaration. As they said ^^^^ but knowone mentioned the marks on the carb and bi-metalic choke housing that give a rough guide to basic adjustment......two or three notches that give the basic range. Also..has the housing got a heater? feed wire to the bi-metalic housing.....needs to be fitted if it has. Marti...

are you sure you really want the old type zorst? either will fit, and 85 could be either..... the brickyard ss late one is very good..... Mines I think is the early one, it has a odd shaped almost oval silencer with nothing holding it up. The exhaust on vw speed shop fits both, has a lifetime guara...

Thanks for the responses :D I received an e-mail from VW speedshop today, telling me that the guarantee lasts for as long as I own the vehicle, it comes with all bolts and gaskets and the silencer bolts to the header(not sure what this means). Think I'm gonna go with this one as its the best one I'v...
