Gearbox oil change
Hi -not been on here for a while but hopefully some simple advice needed please. Changing my gearbox oil - I've drained usual dark stinky oil out. Opened new oil (Comma SX75w-90 GL4 semi-syth - researched on here to be correct) but this is practically clear!? (I mean clear like water) Is this right ...

Re: How to change front diff oil seal?
PS at the risk of sounding snarky, get a Bentley manual. Seal replacement covered nicely, and who knows there might be another repair on the van needed :) Not snarky at all - I really should, as you say there just may be a chance that I'll need to fix summat else some time  - where do I get on...

Re: How to change front diff oil seal?
Thanks alistair - really helpful - and a diagram! How'd you get the pictures of the underside of my van with all that sprayed oil? And this was interesting.... "the diff mount bolts left loose for a few miles, then tightened up. Just to allow the front diff to settle in a happy place (a s...

Re: Rear diff lock question
Engine off, left for five minutes while dropping the jack, tried again nothing. Just a thought but when tried again you had engine running? if not maybe slight leak and vacuum flask emptied during that 5 mins? Got to do my rear lock on pick-up some time - the times those bloody fairies have let me ...

How to change front diff oil seal?
Hi - has any one got a drawing or advice on changing front diff oil seal (weeping just behind prop shaft flange)? - I'm assuming just remove large centre nut (prop shaft off) and it'll be obvious but wanted to check proceedure/pitfalls first before pulling anything apart! Also anyone know what would...

Re: Tristar Value
Metalic blue with blue canopy -it must be the one based in suffolk and was for sale at mid suffolk show this year. Seller seemed genuine bloke and had long chat with him but I no longer have his contact details. Nice truck but orrible color put me off and £8.5k he wanted for it seemed a bit high. Bi...

Re: Diesel - Fuel Expansion Tank and Strainer
Hi Ashley - re pm can't help much as fitted nice new ss straps without need for tank or gbox to come out - result! Tank is plastic - i thought they all were and pretty sure didn't have anything rattling about as would have heard it when drained and stropped it up temp so could keep using truck. I se...

Re: Gearbox knackered??
Took off prop today and vibration gone!! :) :? I know should have taken off earlier but had convinced meself of worst scenario - and still not 100% convinced! Uj joint to front was dry and bit stiff, with slight 'notch' feel at extreme point of movement. Wd40'd it and can now feel slight play in it ...

Re: Gearbox knackered??
Hi Russel -yes your old blue single cab. Great truck by the way....chuffed to bits with it and its got me and equipment where ever I've needed to get to! So things looking up if oil not changed for a while / ever = oil condition not too bad at 162k-ish miles. As I said no teeth or chunks - and chang...

Re: Gearbox knackered??
Hi Aidan -thanks! was hoping for expert opinion. Reverse is perfectly smooth - which made me realise how bad 1st was...like its resisting going forward. Had truck nearly a year but was Russels @ syncronutz so reckon he would have renewed oil (judging by front diff oil being so clean) so could be wea...

Gearbox knackered??
Real nasty vibration in first gear, less when pulling away in 2nd or G but still there. But is perfectly smooth when in reverse. Thought was cvj which was knackered but now fixed still have nasty vibration. Checked front diff and oil like new :D Checked and drained gbox: oil = new-ish when settled b...
