So mine is stamped with -3.
I think drilling out the rivets is probably beyond my skills, as I have a pretty minimalist setup.
Whats the likelihood of finding a replacement cam? Os that virtually impossible?
Without a replacement am I looking at 3-4k for a rebuild?

There were no other obvious markings on it, as far as I could see.

Re: Help- Low Compression & Oil Pressure 1.9 DG how far to rebuild?
Damn thats a real shame, but I appreciate you both looking at the photos for me. So the option now are either Call it a day with this engine and hunt for a new one to stick in. Assuming a dj or dg would be the best fit as its simillar to whats in there so an easy(ish) install? Try to find a matching...

Re: Help- Low Compression & Oil Pressure 1.9 DG how far to rebuild?
Im based down in somerset, not far from weston super mare. So ive had a look at the cam lobes, images below. Can you explain what wear to look for, what is too much? Hoping I can reuse these with new bearings, but interested to hear your takes. Any and all thoughts welcome, thanks in advance :) http...

Re: Help- Low Compression & Oil Pressure 1.9 DG how far to rebuild?
Well I want to get the engine running again, but I dont have a spare 3-4k to chuck at it. Im looking to fix major issues, not do a full rebuild for the fun of it. I took it out of the van looking to sort out low compression in one cylinder (replace valves there and new rings and gaskets) plus low oi...

Re: Help- Low Compression & Oil Pressure 1.9 DG how far to rebuild?
Ah damn that sounds like it could complicate things. So I need a special tool to replace the bearings :/ I guess as I had low oil pressure its worth going through with it. Is it a complicated procedure? As there is dj stampes on the engine, how do I go about working out what bearings are correct? I'...

Re: Help- Low Compression & Oil Pressure 1.9 DG how far to rebuild?
I always thought it was a dg as it looked the same as other dgs online- I noticed the dj stamp while splitting the case so I mustve been wrong this whole time...amateur moment. Ok wont take the rods off the crank, I was hoping to replace the bearings without dissassembling the crank, is that doable?...

Re: Help- Low Compression & Oil Pressure 1.9 DG how far to rebuild?
Hey Max- its going...slowly. Sorry for going AWOL been working a lot recently so not much time for it. With the case split I am trying to work out what bearings I need. I read online there should be marks (colours?) on the crankshaft but I cant obviously see them (picture attached). Do I need to tak...

Re: Help- Low Compression & Oil Pressure 1.9 DG how far to rebuild?
Ok thanks for the thoughts. I've got the case split today with relative ease so can now inspect the innards. I'm going to look at the Haynes manual to see how to check for ware on cam/crank shaft. I will likely post a few photos here asking for some extra eyes. My plan of attack at the moment is: Re...

Re: Help- Low Compression & Oil Pressure 1.9 DG how far to rebuild?
Not sure if anyone has any thoughts on this? Just trying to work out how many of the bearings need replacing/ what do I need to replace to help the oil pressure once I've split the case. If there is a guide already published on this I am happy to read that, but haven't been able to locate it on the ...

Re: Help- Low Compression & Oil Pressure 1.9 DG how far to rebuild?
Ok cool thanks for your thoughts, sounds like the case will be split. To be honest im not sure its within my skills to fit 2.1 parts to a 1.9, that sounds quite advanced- will it not be easier to stick to 1.9? Can you elaborate more on what you mean when you say slack bearings? Looking at bentley ma...

Help- Low Compression & Oil Pressure 1.9 DG how far to rebuild?
Hi All, After some advice. Currently stripping down the 1.9 DG that was in my van. What led to this was: I did a compression test and got around 130 psi on all cylinders except cylinder 3 which was 60ish (first red flag). Then I did an oil pressure test and got 4 bar (sorry for mixing up bar & p...

Re: Removing Exhaust Nuts
Managed to slide the cylinders back in, so heads are off and had a clean up. The reason for the rebuild was low oil pressure and compression. It was low across all cylinders but particularly bad on cylinder 3 at about 60 psi. Having had a look at the heads I think (in my 0 years of experience doing ...
