Re: T25 door step v hammer at the MOT
So the outcome of this for anyone interested…… The garage carried out an independent inspection of the camper and the inspector agreed that the tester shouldn’t have tested the door step like he did. After emails back and forth with the owner, it was agreed “because I had benefitted from the work be...

Re: T25 door step v hammer at the MOT
So I was told I could only drive it home because it had failed and then to a garage for repair once it was booked in. £40 for the part from Just Kampers 4 hours labour at £70 per hour £35 for welding consumables I thought the same on instinct. They started telling me that if it’s in a place that isn...

Re: T25 door step v hammer at the MOT
Thanks for your comment. It didn’t copy and paste over correctly. It was (6.1.1 (c) (i) I also saw all the criteria and plan to use that in my complaint to them for sure. I have the actual step they was cut out when they welded the new one in and took it back to the garage to show them. The guy trie...

Re: T25 door step v hammer at the MOT
Not only won’t fix them, but surely it’s dangerous?!
The tyres are fine. No cracks and no perishing. Just another thing they got wrong at the MOT, then gave me bad advise about slowing down the process by using WD40.

Re: T25 door step v hammer at the MOT
Thanks for all your replies. It’s not that I don’t believe you all, but an actual MOT garage has said that it shouldn’t have failed before they made the hole. Obviously once the hole had been created that may have changed, but if they would have left it, rather than hitting it, because it’s not clas...

Re: T25 door step v hammer at the MOT
It was never even an advisory and hadn’t changed much in the 10 and a half years I’ve owned it that the trouble.
It looked similar to the other side before the hammer was involved!

So the photos are after the hammer was taken to it and after the welding work

Re: T25 door step v hammer at the MOT
Wish I could add photos. New to this, but don’t think I can. The part they hit was right at the front of the step, so the door wouldn’t open far enough to even step on that area. I have the piece they cut out and even between your hands you cannot flex it at all. I heard one of the guys on the phone...

Re: T25 door step v hammer at the MOT
The joke is the tyres are all fine as well, but he said to prevent them drying out and cracking more I should regularly spray them with WD40! The other guy there said “not everyone does that” in a ‘don’t do that’ kind of way. I don’t trust anything they say.

Re: T25 door step v hammer at the MOT
Thanks for that. I’ve read through it all and it seems it shouldn’t have been tested with a hammer and then classed as a fail! Really annoying at its cost me £417 to be welded and parts for no reason. Going to take this further for sure! I’ll let you know how I get on.

T25 door step v hammer at the MOT
Hi everyone, I had my T25 MOT’d recently and the garage used the hammer to “test” the door step on the drivers side. Turns out they then failed it because of a major defect after making a hole around the mat hole. They also wrote ‘Vehicle structure corroded to the extent that the rigidity of the ass...
