I have a 1Y engine that has pegged a valve, wich has eaten the head and one piston, but not scored the barrel, I had planned to remove the sump, unbolt the conrod and lift the damaged piston out, drop a new one in and slap on a fresh head, anyone know where I can get the needed parts?

recently fitted a 1Y engine to my 1.6d 4 speed van and I'm thinking of upgrading to a 5 speed gear box, and posibly a 1.8 16v gti engine, I have chance of an engine allready but not sure wich gearbox to go for. theres a turbo diesel gear box available with all the linkage and other parts, just unsur...

i now need to set my tappet gaps, but im strugling to find what the gap should be, any body know where i can find this out? Thanks.

GOT THE CHANCE Of A 1.9D 1Y ENGINE.
romour is they bolt straight onto the four speed box and go straight in bar the sump and oil pickup. is this true?

just wanted to know if anyone on here does engine conversions, currently has a 1.6d in, thinking along the lines of upgrading to a 1.9tdi. I can remove the existing engine and suply the new one.
