I may be wrong (I normally am :D ) but wasn't a recommended mod to do away with the two belts and replace with a longer one? You would only need to adjust at the alternator. :D
I'm probably wrong but I thought that I read it somewhere.

Ok done the glow plugs and the air filter (af needed doing un related) and she still wont start.
Before I spend £80+ on a recon anything else I could have missed?
Got power to the glow plugs/ fuse ok cleaned the earths batt ok was runnnig great until left.

Amps draw is a great suggestion.... got a meter but not the greatest electirkery wizard how do I test the draw?

Just bumping this thread up a bit :D Ok guys and gals still cant get it going! Changed the bush in the nose of the starter got jump leads on it tried a wee bit of easi start ( I know its evil stuff) and nothing. Just to reiterate the van was going well before I left it over winter :shock: 6 years ag...

Should be here Wednesday, will put it on in the afternoon. Is the soaking in oil 4 24 hours a must or can I copper slip it?

Cool! Only problem now is my vw place aint very interested in getting me bits they were less than helpful when trying to get other parts, said I need to go to a commercial dealership.....funny they said that they couldn't get bits for t25's.

I guess this is what we are talking about then?! Ok sorry was gonna put up a pic but image shack is not working. Question the bush does fit in the end of the starter where it engages into the engine?! Sorry I know it must do but got to ask as the new bush is loads smaller and not the right one??(Jk1...

One final question honest looking at the exploded view of 'a typical starter' in Haynes and cant pick out the bush?
Is it more easy once the starter is apart to identify?

Well got some jump leads on the batt and to me it just sounds like the starter isn't turning quick enough?!?
