Re: On the way to the South West of France - Ideas?
We was down that way for our 2 weeks this year, but had to take the car. Van is poorly. We travelled from Le Havre through Caen and Rennes to St Nazaire and stayed near the salt fields at Guerande. Moved down the west coast through Noirmoutier, Ile d'Oleron before heading inland to Saintes and Borde...

Re: France for summer.
My advice would be to make sure you have a Visa card and your bank know you are going. The French love those self service petrol pumps

Re: Lost revs, engine died then all fine!
Was it wet when it happened? Mine used to play up in the rain, and like Mocki says it was bad fuel. Water got in through a split rubber on the filler pipe. New pipe, new fuel filter, drained some of the manky fuel out after leaving it standing for a day or two, all was well.

Re: Insurance? who is best?
Having read the above post, I feel I should give credit when it's due. We're insured with Flux and took out their rescue plan. Only had to use them once (so far, touch wood). Van spluttered to a halt 10 miles into a 100 mile trip home, rolled into a layby, called Flux and put the kettle on. Within a...

Rear door doo dah
Hi, I can remember seeing, somewhere, a little device which means you can have the rear hatch open an inch or so but still have it locked and relatively secure. I can't for the life of me remember where I saw them though so if anyone can help me, I'd be grateful. Unless they're complete rubbish in w...
Re: POP TOP
I'll stick to sleeping downstairs and throwing all the bags and stuff up top I think

Re: POP TOP
I'm 15 stone and me and the missus have slept up top in a westy. It wasn't much fun though, sleep with your head at the open end and your pillow falls off and my feet kept touching the canvas at the bottom ( I'm only 5'11"), sleep with your head down at the pointy end and it's like sleeping in ...

What was wrong with the Dehler? I've never seen one in the metal but they look pretty good in pictures, smart to look at and stuffed full of kit.

Re: North western France
Probably the Dover - Calais as it's nice and cheap. We will be having a gander at Mont St Michel and hoping to go to Jersey for a day or two as well.

North western France
Following the incredible success of last years 2weeks in France, we're going for it again but this time with slightly more realistic distance targets. Any tips on places to stay and things to do in north west France and the Atlantic coast at the end of June?

Re: Looking for good sites in the New Forest.
Diamond Farm is nice, stayed there for a night last year. Nice facilites, quiet, decent pub a mile up the road and quite the most impressive array of roadkill on the way to the village.

Re: Advice...camping trip to France
Some campsites have old fashioned euro plug power stands, came across these twice last year. I have a euro westie so I was fine, but might be worth checking to make sure you have the correct cabling if you have a van with the big blue 3 pin jobbies. Also if you wear specs, you need 2 pairs in case b...
