Sorry, I still think it sounds like a loose or broken wire somewhere. I'm no expert though

Mine did this. Turned out to be a wire from the solenoid which was split but still hanging together by a tiny thread. Could be any of the above but if it's been running fine in the mean time, might not be fuel starvation as you would get lumpy running or a judder!?! Start with the simple, silly thin...

I have a similar issue but mine's burning a lot of oil too

I will check all of the above and let you know what I discover.

Thanks guys' I'll get all that checked out. hadn't thought of the turbo being a possible cause so that's interesting.

1600 TD mate. Not a lot of poke but goes well enough. But no, it doesn't like hills, even with just me in it. It was originally off white but was silver when I bought it. Toying with the idea of taking it back to its original colour.
