There is a LOT of fake crap out there. Brickwerks for posted, or if you have a local Pirtek or similar that's as safe as you can be.
I had the same with my Omega a couple of years ago, supposed safe hose turned to mush...

Water pump belt - twin setup.
My understanding of the twin pulley system is that you use the shims to pack the two halves of the water pump pulley - less shims to make it tighter, more to drop the belt into the V. Trial fitting before I put the engine in, even with no shims the water pump belt was very slack. Was stamped up as 6...

Starter bolts for a 1.9D
Currently persuading new lump into old engine bay. Got the engine hung and gearbox bolted on. Trying to fit the refurbed starter from the original engine. ISTR the starter bits on the old 1.6D engine were mismatched and one was an Allen head. The one I have sitting here doesn't wind into the new blo...

Re: Clutch Master Cylinder Replacement
Also a bit of heat will help it become more flexible and easier to remove. Gentle heat only - hot air gun on low or a hairdryer, or if you stick a towel underneath and around, a bit of hot water poured over it. I often wrap the ends of a set of pliers in tape and use that to gently rotate the end of...

Re: Gunson Eesibleed warning
That's handy to know, I'm rapidly approaching the point of needing to bleed the van up. Thank you!

Re: Clutch pipe sheared
Brickwerks do a clutch pipe repair kit that you can either run front to back, or splice into a good section further along the van. Comes pre flared as needed.

Re: Brown wire on steering column
It looks like it may have pulled out of the terminal you can just see peeking out of that hole. In which case I'd probably use pliers to remove the old and crimp a new spade on there.

Kienzle box on Speedo cable?
Working under the van I keep getting hit in the face by a little plastic box swinging about in the middle of the speedo cable... I'm about to bolt it up out of the way but just wondering what it's for? It's about 3 inches square and has a label of Kienzle 2152-10. Guessing it's something to convert ...

Diesel hoses - tank to filter
Fuel tank is in after some persuasion... I've been replacing the cobbles together mess of old connectors and pound shop hose clamps as I go. I put them on yesterday and already forgot what size - I had mimicked the existing fittings for the diesel fuel and return by putting new fuel hose, about five...

Re: Radius rod bushes - cup/washer?
I think I have answered my own question, the outer bush has the metal part cast into it so I presume it is a 32mm OD. I haven't unwrapped all of my boxes yet, because the dining room already looks like I'm having the world's loneliest autojumble... But I'll double check the measurement is 32mm as ex...

Radius rod bushes - cup/washer?
The strip down of the van continues and I was heartened* to find that the radius rods have done their best saw action through the holes in the bodywork. Not worried about fixing them, I have a welder. I've bought the bush kit from the magnificent Brickwerks (I think I might have bought an entire van...

Engine bay loom identification
Good evening gang. Being a lucky soul I am now in charge of rebuilding the mother in law's van after several months laid up. Dropped the engine ready for replacement and am sorting out the loom, mainly redoing all the sheaths. Before I unplugged it I did label everything, however the van is outside ...
