Glow plug light, should just come on for around 10 seconds when cold.
It probably just a duff conection that's making it come on at random times. Does it come on when starting from cold?

Re: Baby car seat in the van
Brickwerks do a 3 point seat belt kit. Fitted one to my old van, took a bit of fiddling around with and had to try a selection of babdy seats before we found one that worked ok. Biggest problem was with buckle crunch.

Re: Jx injection pump alignment
The 1.9td in my old van was a bit like this, belt didn't run centre on the pump, seemed fine for the 7 years I had it and 2 differant belts. Although it wasn't rubbing anywhere.

Re: Coolant expansion tank completely empty.
It will be head gasket or head leak. If the cooling system is doing weird/ inconsistent things.

Re: Dropping Engine using wood + straps
I'd say borrow an engine crane or hire one, makes it so much easier and safer

Re: Temperamental Starter Motor
Surly if it's not starting in the morning after camping then it's draining while you are camping. Do you have leisure battery? Or are you running the camping electrics from the starter battery?

My money is on head seal too I'm afraid. I had a old pug 206 which ran fine but could ever bleed it properly for a good few months after I changed a leaking rad. Then head gasket went so I assume it was always on the way out.

Re: Oh dear have I messed up the gears
Could it not be clutch related? Maybe dragging or not releasing correctly

I would bleed it, no adjustment that I'm aware of.

I'd definitely suspect the filler bit pictured is the problem
