Rob, I would say there is a fault on the circuit you removed the fuse from. The bulb only flashes once because the fault is quite small (high resistance), that is why the battery has a slow drain. If the bulb stayed on the fault would be large (low resistance) and the battery would drain much quicke...

Dave, my fault, I should have made myself clear in the first place. I agree with you and Rob that the best bet would be to buy a gass unit.

If the fuse is at the battery end any short circuit on the glow plug or cables the fuse will blow and NO CURRENT WILL FLOW, fuse should be on positive side because the vans are negative earth.

Re: cheap 12v soldering iron!

Would strongly sugest you fit an inline fuse if you go down this line, loads of current direct off the battery!

Thanks for both your replys and the advice given. I have another brake pipe that looks a bit suspect so I am going to invest in a flaring kit and give it a go myself. Jonno, I live in Bridgend South Wales so I am a bit to far away to call in for a borrow of the kit, but thanks very much for your kin...

Brake pipes

Hi
I need to replace the rear brake pipes from the cylinders to the flexi hoses and thinking of making them up myself. Could anyone advise me on the correct size/type of pipe and fittings. Also best place to purchase these and a flaring kit.
Many Thanks

Tony
