Re: Running rough after sitting for 3 months
Yeah aidan this is all present and correct. I am now thinking that its the magnet on the dizzy drive for the electronic ignition. Ive ordered a new one and points and condenser to test it for that. My mechanic seem to think it was definitely to do with ignition. I will get this swapped out this week...

Re: Running rough after sitting for 3 months
So I've been back working on the bus today. So I've eliminated that it's nothing to do with fuel. But it would appear it's only running on cylinders 2 and 4. It's a rebuilt engine with brand new heads. I have a 009 with electronic ignition that's been in the bus since 2006. As its 1 and 3 which are ...

Could it be worth redoing valve clearance I kind of think it feels like that.

Running rough after sitting for 3 months
I have a 72 bay window with a 1600 twin port engine with twin 40 dellorto carbs. I did an engine rebuild last year and cover 400 miles last summer so just running it in at the moment. Was running really well. So I went to move it on Wednesday and it was struggling to idle and when I tried to rev it ...

Re: Petrol in the engine case.
So I have just spent a couple of hours playing with fuel system. I found a small fuel leak which I have remedied. I've taken my regulator apart and all is spot on with that. The engine now runs but the fuel pressure is only 1psi which I would assume is not enough!. So I'm now thinking my cheap £14 a...

Re: Petrol in the engine case.
Another thing I've noticed is that the fuel pressure gauge is reading zero.
also if the float bowl was over filling wouldn't petrol be coming out of the pipe that comes out of the fuel bowl. Currently it doesn't

Re: Petrol in the engine case.
Thanks for all the replies so far appreciated it. So I've been advised by my mate who is a mechanic to go back to a mechanical fuel pump to eliminate the electric fuel pump as that's the way vw intended it to be! https://youtube.com/shorts/IQ2pBGMW7c4?si=IicgdEZjyk6swUBV https://youtu.be/AaXaLk0QD6U...

Re: Petrol in the engine case.
Yes I have fitted a filter king with gauge. I have bypassed at the moment to check the flow of petrol. Plenty of that. What is the correct psi?
