Re: 2.1 wasserboxer - massive oil leak
It's getting a new flywheel rather than mess with the old one :-) Interestingly enough .. When I'd completely stripped this VEGE reconditioned engine from JK - less than 4k miles since it was fitted (albeit 6 yrs), I found the following.. 2 cam bearings & 1 main down to copper 1 con-rod fitted u...

Re: 2.1 wasserboxer - massive oil leak
Many thanks to all for your advice and inputs.. I’m going to rebuild the engine.. Looking around the usual parts sites (JK, Heritage, brickworks etc) I can see most of the usual parts (bearings, gaskets, etc) but I can only seem to see the end float shims (selective shims) & rear seal for the cr...

Re: 2.1 wasserboxer - massive oil leak
So - I took the engine out today and removed the flywheel and rear seal. There was quite a bit of debris from a destroyed shim/washer or 2... I assume that this was the cause of the massive oil leak... But - what caused this to happen? See attached photos .. The surfaces on the crankcase look a litt...

Re: 1986 Holdsworth Villa3 poptop roof movement
So -- Quick report back on this one ... It turned out that the edge of the roof above the windscreen had become detached .. The adhesive/sealant had simply peeled off the fibreglass top whilst remaining firmly bonded to the vehicle roof. Obviously wind was getting under this edge as I was driving an...

Re: 2.1 wasserboxer - massive oil leak
Interesting - thanks ... The vehicle did have a new Vega engine (short) fitted 5 years ago and has only done a few thousand miles since with annual servicing and heated dry storage etc. I would have thought that the cam bore cap would have been new then unlikely to corrode through by now ,,But I gue...

2.1 wasserboxer - massive oil leak
Broke down today - buzzer came on, oil lamp flashing.. By the time I had pulled over to the left and stopped it had dumped all its oil out... May have been leaking for a little while given the oil covering the rear of the tailgate, but we were only 5 miles into the trip with no signs of issues befor...

1986 Holdsworth Villa3 poptop roof movement
I happened to notice yesterday that there is a slight movement of the whole pop-top roof assembly against the van roof. I was driving down the road and noticed a bit of thin black trim flapping outside the side window. I opened the window and put my hand up towards the roof to try to re-seat the tri...
