Fuel tank paint
Hi all, I’ve dropped the fuel tank and it’s looking in pretty good condition (I was surprised!) just looking to paint it before putting it back on, is there any recommendation for whether I should prime it? I’ve got vactan for any bits of rust first, but should I then also prime it? And then what ty...

Re: Fuel pump?
Any further help on this appreciated… I bought the carb service kit from Brickwerks, followed the two videos above. Re-fitted the carb and it started first time! Idled for a while but it was slow so we opened up the idle speed screw a quarter turn and it ran lovely, turned the engine off and re-star...

Re: Fuel pump?
Thanks, is it best to get the new gaskets for this and do the full clean and service of it? Is there a quick way to clean out to get me to a festival the end of the month??

Re: Fuel pump?
So the story continues ha. Rather than dropping the tank, I drained off the water from the bottom of the tank, then put a bottle of the wynns stuff that emulsifies water to get rid of the rest. Since draining the water off it idles completely fine. Also changed the fuel filter, and the fuel seems to...

Re: Fuel pump?
Thanks Smiffo, checked the little filter today and that’s clear, sprayed some carb cleaner in the top and it started but then died. Checked the fuel coming out of the pump and it’s milky, so looks like we have water in the fuel. Checked the filler neck and can’t see any splits, I’m assuming that the...

Re: Fuel pump?
So I went back out tonight to check because I couldn’t remember if I tried putting the fuel in before or after changing the spark plugs. So turns out that it is starting to catch with putting fuel straight in to the carb. The fuel pump is working so this would mean it’s between the fuel pump and the...

Re: Fuel pump?
Good to know on they can be interchangeable. Interestingly, Brickwerks aren’t stocking any at the moment as the quality has dropped since the manufacturing has moved to South Africa. So yes, it’s definitely catching for a second with the quick start spray, but not with fuel poured in to hell the car...

Re: Ignition coil
Ah ok so were the results more in-line with the spec?
I think I’ve tested the tci using the paperwork above and it seems to be ok? Although couldn’t do the last 2 checks on the pages. Trying to do this ourselves but electrical fault finding isn’t our forte!

Re: Ignition coil
Thanks for checking these, I think it was the secondary that was coming up wrong. I’m starting to wonder if it is even the ignition coil? I’ve sprayed quick start in to the carb and it does catch a bit for a second, there’s spark at all the plugs and fuel pump working too.yea sorry NGK, BP6ET triple...

Re: Fuel pump?
Got hold of some easy start today and sprayed it on to the carb while turning over, it did start to catch for a second or two. Would this still indicate that it’s the ignition coil? I can’t seem to find the grey sticker one in stock anywhere! Is there any issue in fitting the green sticker type?
