Re: Gear problem in France

Watched a "Celtic Link" ferry unloading, and they had the campers on the top open deck, drivers had to reverse round the centre island and then drive off. Was wondering how they would respond if I had to hold up proceedings and dive underneath! Good news it, made it to the boat no problem....

Re: Gear problem in France

Mine is doing the same thing, but the splines on the shift lever are fine. Plastic/nylon ball comes out of the Cup arrangement if reverse selected. Then under with 2 13mm spanners and drop the rod as far as it will go and get the ball back in place. Gear Lever seems to get "jammed" in the ...

Re: No Idle.

^^ you would like to assume a mechanic would have found it if it was an obvious vac hose failure but I suppose maybe not :D You would assume the mechanic bothered to look at it in the fist place. I am becoming convinced he didn't spend too much time on it. Not the big pipe to the solenoid, took it ...

No Idle.

Hi all, Have a 1984 1.9 wasserboxer, and it refuses to idle. local mechanic blew out the carb jets etc, and checked plug leads and ignition timing and components etc. He did mention that the symptoms resembled an air leak, but he could not find one anywhere. Its a pain at junctions, as you can imagi...

Re: Westy High-Top gutter rust.

Hi AdrianC, not an MB Trac, probably a Holder or one of the other small Vineyard tool carriers. That was cutting Lavender at a Monastery down near Avignon. Going to clean off the worst of the surface rust, and give it a blow-over before August , no leaks to the inside yet, so next winter will reveal...

Re: South Ireland

If you get as far as Mayo, you should head on to Achill Island. Stayed there a few years ago with the Type2Ireland crew, ad it was great. big campsite across from the pub. Lavelles golden strand, I think its called. If you are crossing to Larne or belfast, then you can do the entire Antrim coast roa...

Re: Ferry booked for France again

Hi Patrick, Went all along the coast of Finisterre 3 years ago. Lots of standing stones, stone walls and small fields. Incredible coastline, was in a little town (Portsall?)where the Amoco Cadiz ran aground in 1978. The ships anchor is on the village green, hard to imagine the scale of the ship! Whe...

Re: Ferry booked for France again

Hi Patrick, Heading out 20th August, back early september. (Kids do very little in the first week back at school, right?) Having a sept. return knocks about 150 euro off the total package. Heading to Cherbourg, then have to decide if going east or west! East would be a change from last time, and perh...
