Re: Dizzy Wiring
Er, ok - that actually makes sense and is probably a better way of doing it once you 'get your head around it '. I'm going to have to write it down and keep it in the van somewhere. Thanks for the clarification. You state in your post that the Tacho for a Petrol engine should be connected to the Gre...

Re: Hello and Help..!!
That's a kind offer but I think i've cracked it..... A mate of mine who has a T25 and a classic Beetle (and a lovely TD5 90) spotted this; https://i.imgur.com/kdAkV6p.jpg Apparently it means it's ' Factory Reconditioned' - he said he'd seen it on a couple of Beetles over the years... Does that sound...

Re: Dizzy Wiring
Lovely - thanks again. I'm equally embarrassed and amused by the fact that I've owned this van for four weeks now and I've only just found out the the Black wires are 'Live' and the Green wires are 'Earth'. Your reply has been the most enlightening and fire-ball saving post ever made.... :D Cheers, ...

Re: Dizzy Wiring
Ooo.!!
Another one - out of the four existing wires that go to the original Coil (2x Black & 2x Green) one of the Black 'lives' (sorry, mind blown by that) must still need to go to the Coil...??
The one from the Ignition Amp or the other one from 'somewhere unseen'..??
Cheers, Dave.

Re: Dizzy Wiring
That's brilliant - thank you.
So the Live wires on the existing coil were the Black ones..??
That would have caught me out - huge thanks for the warning....

Dizzy Wiring
Hey Folks, I've just bought a Powersparks Dizzy, Coil and Lead set and have a question... A Green and a Black wire from the Ignition Amp to the Coil - no problem. The other Green and Black from 'somewhere' to the Coil - no problem. My problem is that there's three wires going to the ...

Hey Ash, Many thanks for the reply. It does sound like i've got a bit of a mongrel doesn't it..?? The PO advised me to join this forum - so I assume he was a member - and he was a regular at shows. I still can't help but think there's an explanation (apart from the obvious one..) for th...

Another spanner in the works - i've just cleaned the Dizzy up; https://i.imgur.com/P7eIa62.jpg Through doing a quick search on this forum the dizzy is off an early DF engine..?? If that is the case is there any reason why I can't upgrade it to a later type or are they incompatible..?? Cheers, Dave.

Re: Hello and Help..!!
Ok, I've been scraping more crud off.... Where the Engine number should be it's as smooth as a smooth thing. What's weird is that there are no 'witness marks' on the Ally - no file marks, no buffing marks, it's not bowed - just smooth and flat. What there is though is what looks like a capital 'U' a...

Re: Hello and Help..!!
Thanks for all the excellent info. It looks very much like the vertical cylinder with the engine number stamped at the bottom is a square flange bolted to the casing..?? I'm hoping the cylinder has just been refitted 90 or 180 degrees out and so the number is facing a different way.... I found the f...
