Re: Alternator problem: I'm stuck and stupid

Thanks for the info. I have done some further investigation and taken some pics. I have got the engine No. AAZ 398 481 and the mounting bracket has the part no (sorry if this is wrong) GGG(or 666) -40 068 9 0(or 9) 31450. I don't have a part no. for the alternator as it was a refurbished unit. First...

Re: Alternator problem: I'm stuck and stupid

Thanks guys but the problem is not the alternator. I know the previous owner changed the engine from a 1.6TD to a 1.9TD but I think they used the 1.6TD alternator mounting bracket and alternator. If I am right the 1.6TD had a v belt pulley but the 1.9TD has a 1 inch wide grooved belt. So the garage ...

Alternator problem: I'm stuck and stupid

I need help. I had a problem with the alternator of my van. It has had some modifications (It would take to long to explain but I can't just replace it) on it before I got it and now it's failed I need to find out what it should look like. I think it is a 1.9TD AAZ engine (there is no engine code) w...

Re: Driveshafts and CV joints.

Just took my drive shafts of to fit a set of wheel bearings. A couple of good hints are: 1. In removing the drive shaft at the wheel is to use an extended 6mm allen bolt. You usually need at least 150mm (6 inches in old school) to be able to work on it. 2. A head torch is vital. Its dark in there an...

Re: tv aeriel

Coverage can be patchy. Especially for that new fangled digital. The best coverage site is http://www.dtg.org.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; as they publish maps with reception useful during UK travel.

Re: RUST

Not the Van's but the first since I bought it. Hence "my" (should have explained better) It's only taken 2 years and getting myself out of debt to get to this stage. Looking forward to her first trip. Surfing in May hopefully then possibly some T25 weekends.

Mine is up for "my" first MOT next week. Expect it to fail but at least I'll know what to fix!

Re: RUST

I have given up on appearance. I renamed the van "patchy" cause of all the poor finish. As long as it is structurally sound and I make it from A to B without using the AA I'm happy.

Re: Welding indoors

I would look at how bad that rust is. Cause if you don't you could be throwing good money after bad. I'm happy to help as you may only need a small patch to sort it out.

Re: Welding indoors

Hi fix,

I feel your pain. Just finished a similar operation on "Patchy" (you now have an idea of how good my welding is) PS tried to PM you about your interior as I am interested and live in Wildsen but it's sitting in my outbox. PM me if you want to do a deal
