Re: AAZ VS Air cooled
There's a lot of things you could do before swapping to a 2.1 air cooled! I'm sure there's someone, somewhere who could rebuild this fuel pump - there's still hundreds of thousands of vehicles around the world using that type of pump, surely there will be a company making knockoff parts, at least. ...

Re: Bent 5-sp gear lever
Thanks Silverbullet, I’ve just popped into my local blacksmith with the gear lever. He put the bent spot in his two coil induction furnace heated it up in a few seconds to red heat then bent the lever back straight. He wouldn’t even charge me for the work. It’s great to have the support and knowled...

Re: T25 1986 automatic gearbox problem
Just as risky buying a used manual gearbox as an auto, they're all 40 years old and made of chocolate and misery. Sure enough a few more people will rebuild the manual boxes, but the autos are not a "special" thing, really. Most of it is the same as fitted to most VW/Audi cars around the ...

Re: T25 1986 automatic gearbox problem
Have a look at my threads if you haven't already documenting my autobox journey Loved my auto but 3x gearboxes later I changed the van to a manual Original sounded like a jet turbine as the diff whined so badly, replacement box was £800 and it lasted a while then went Porsche 924 2.5, also didn't la...

Re: Help- Low Compression & Oil Pressure 1.9 DG how far to rebuild?
Oil pressure in its simplest terms, comes from the gap between the main bearings and the crankshaft So as they age and wear the gap gets bigger hence lower oil pressure A leak down test would have helped identify where the low compression fault was, head or rings. I've a brand new Autolinea head tha...

Re: Auto to Manual conversion, Porsche cv's, Linkage refurb
That engine will shred the DW, its the early fine tooth gearbox, had one on a EJ22 in a Microbus with fat tyres and it somehow survived. VW only put autos on their biggest engine, the 3.7 Oettinger wbx6 with 330Nm. Good luck. I'm very mindful of your advice here and have been babying 1st gear but 2...

Will have another look today, thanks Smiffo
Seems ok but then it always does
Thinking it may be the fusebox dying an untimely death
