Re: Tyre size choices
Which engine does your T25 has ? Which transmission? Is it heavy or light ? I recently fitted my Caravelle with a set of 215/75R15 on 5.5 x 15" ET 30 wheels. Looks and drives very well. 2.1 DJ engine, 5 speed transmission, factory fitted AC always working when driving and stock suspension. I we...

Re: Re-mapping AHU TDI
There is a possibility, and another possibility on a different path. My Syncro has an AHU which was transformed to an AFN. The basic engine is the same. To achieve the 81Kw engine character, you need the Variable Geometry too. The turbo, the injection pump and the ECU were replaced. For the turbo, y...

Re: Running lean
The CO reading is NOT enough to tell the story. Before doing any work on the fuel system, I advise you to go to a workshop or even the same MOT station and connect the car once more to the emission test. Register the readings of the CO, CO2, HC, O2 and Lambda once for idling, and then once the engin...

Re: T25 servicing in Cumbria?
The lads at Kendal VW are excellent. Peter has had a T25 for years and they were VW trained originally. The work is of the highest quality and they will take time to discuss things with you if needs be. You can even get VW original parts (where available) fitted by them if you wish instead of after...

Re: 2.1 fuel injection injectors, share you experiences
Has anyone run the 0 280 150 711 Bosch injectors which are really for the Saab 2.0/2.3 naturally aspirated engine from the mid/late 80s/1990, again how did you find them, and which engine code are you running them in ? They are identical in fitment to ours, same resistance, but flow roughly 5% more...

Re: AAZ VS Air cooled
There should not be any problem to find spares for rebuilding any injection pump. It is a matter of finding the workshop master who is customer minded. In the worst case like I had with my TDI pump, you can find a used unit and refurbish in Germany, like I did, or ship yours and have it refurbished....

I wouldn't try to do any change.

Re: Towbar And Reversing Sensors
Hi Stuart, I fitted various reversing sensors to cars fitted with a towbar. Although these are Saab cars, the method I used will always work. I sat the towbar on a work bench, and made a cardboard mockup of the bumper. I test fitted the sensor kit and played with distance to the centre line to find ...

Which Alternator is mounted on the engine ?
Does it have a clutch pulley ? It is essential on these.

Re: little advice pls
I would always opt for any of the engine codes 1Z, AHU, AFN.
It is important to source a transverse mounted engine, as the longitudinal mounted (Passat B5, A4, A6) have a different block.

Re: engine change from jx to 1z
Fitting an "AAZ" 1.9 TD will make a direct fir and will last way longer then the "JX". It is a mechanical controlled engine with a bigger volume, higher torque and better reliability. Going to a TDI, I would go for an "AFN" instead of the "1Z/AHU". This is a p...
