What should I do with rust patches, to stop them getting worse?

Hi all, I’ve got engine troubles with our T25, which take priority over the cosmetics. I should have probably done something with these rust patches a year ago, but didn’t. Patches are mainly around window frames. I’ve been told that I should buy something to paint onto the patches, to stop them get...

Re: Coolant expansion tank completely empty.

This is driving me nuts. Why do all the garages and mechanics that I take this to think that the head gasket is fine, when it's the one thing that everyone on this forum seems to think is the problem!?! Can anyone recommend someone, who knows what they are doing, that I can take the van to? I live i...

Re: Coolant expansion tank completely empty.

More on this saga. After not touching the van for several months, and then getting someone else to take a look at it (they found another leak, but still didn't get to the root of the problem), my coolant issues continue. Today, I tried to bleed the system while the engine was running. While doing th...

Re: Coolant expansion tank completely empty.

Update (copy of what I've just posted on the thread about my other light, but it may also be relevant here) OK, here's an update on this. Yesterday, I topped up all of the coolant and bled the system. Took the van for a short drive today, to see what's going on with this new "Glow plug light&q...

What about when it comes on after you've been driving for 5 minutes?

Although, I'm questioning my memory now. Maybe that didn't happen?

New Warning light - What's this one?

We went for what turned out to be a very short drive on Thursday night. A new light came on the dashboard. What the heck is this one ... https://www.dropbox.com/s/wedbuwssy7jdj7h/Van-light.jpg?raw=1 It came on a bit. We stopped for a bit. Restarted, and it was off for a while, then came back on. I p...

Re: Coolant expansion tank completely empty.

Right, I've finally got back to this. I think that my assumption about the garage was right. I think that they just put coolant in, but didn't get rid of any air, leaving a massive air lock. I've just added coolant to the system, and kept adding air pressure until the front radiator was letting out ...

Re: Hazard lights only work on one side

Success! I went back to this today. I removed every pin, from the white block, and all seemed sound. After putting it all back together, I noticed that it all worked fine until the long sides of the switch were squeezed. I eliminated the block as the issue and decided to take the switch apart for a ...

Re: Diesel heater repair

I'm more of a computer geek than a mechanic, so I have no idea what I'm doing with this I think I'm out of my league with this. If anyone has any suggestions of what to do next (in much more basic terms than 'reconnect it' :-) ), or if there's anyone that I could take this to (I'm based in Somerset...

Re: Van security

I have a visible lock on the steering wheel and a hidden switch which which I installed that cuts the 12V supply from the ignition switch to the coil. It is easy to do and totally stops the engine from starting. Because it is hidden and not advertised, then any thief would not know to look for it! ...

Re: Internal air blower/fan

Thanks for the fuse box list Mocki. I've been waiting for some fuses to arrive, because one of them disintegrated when I took it out to test it. Last night, I checked ALL of the fuses in the glove compartment, one by one. All fine and I replaced the broken one. Still nothing from the heat blower/fan...
