Re: Tappet Adjustment - Hot or Cold?
If one or two have drained down they can still be adjusted properly. No need to run the engine first. You will need a more sensitive feel when screwing in the adjuster to "just touching". If you back it off until it rocks with obvious free play, then use fingertips on the screwdriver shaf...

Applying Decals
Have got some decals from Brickwerks. Now I am really worried about messing up applying them.
Does anyone have a step by step guide at all please including preparation?
Many thanks

Dizzy vacuum pipes
Hi, i am having problems with the ignition. Starts well runs for 15 mins or so. Relatively new dizzy cap and rotor arm. Just replaced all HT leads. i was thinking of replacing the vacuum pipe on the dizzy as a next step. My questions are: is there just one pipe i should be replacing? If more than on...

Re: Correct Spark Plug, HT Lead, Distributor Cap Combo!
The silver cap on the top of the spark plug just unscrews (might need a pair of pliers to start it) and leaves you with the thread like the old plug. As far as i can tell the metal HT lead cap just pushes on the thread on the spark plug? i have always just pushed mine on as i assumed that was corre...

Re: Speedo cable replacement
I know this is an old post but I just wanted to say a big thank you to ItchyFeet as this is a brilliant post. The pictures are really helpful. My speedo was all over the place and just stopped last week just before my MOT was due! I decided to replace the speedo and the hub grease cap as the hole l...

Re: RPM in Road Speed
Hi Could you use your phone and some GPS tracker to display your speed accurately? I use HERE Maps which is free and you can download maps (so saves data usage). Displays your current speed at all times. Mike yes good idea. apparently Waze does the same. I actually had chart taped to the dash with ...

RPM in Road Speed
1.9dg 5 speed my speedo cable has just broken and I am going away tomorrow in the van. Does anyone know if there is a chart somewhere which correlates RPM in road speed for each gear so that i can at least try to keep in the speed limit - LOL! e.g. 2000rpm equal 40 mph in 5th etc. (this is probably ...

Thanks!multisi wrote:The tailgate window rubber is the same for all years, to remove the window make a cut horizontally on the outside of the rubber and tear off the outer portion, put something under the rubber so the knife doesn't cut the paint or window.

Rear Window Rubbers
Hi, I need to replace my rear window rubber as it leaves black stains all down the back of the tailgate and I have a small leak internally. It is a 1984 Westie. Where can I get the best rubbers please and are there different variants depending on model year? Also any tips on getting the rear screen ...

Re: New starter still giving problems
Make sure the trigger wire to the solenoid is in good condition, typically corroded for many many inches back from the solenoid. Keep cutting back until you have fresh bright wire, not the black stuff. I replaced mine all the way to the front of the van... Where does it connect at the front please?...
