Yes I am the village idiot, I found the flap behind the number plate.

It’s a 1.9 Petrol. I didn’t know there was a flap by the number plate, thanks I’ll check it out.

Hi, call me the village idiot, but I went to check the oil in my 1989 T25 but couldn't because of the position of the engine, there was not enough space between the dipstick and the back of the van to pull the dipstick fully out. any ideas?

Thanks for all your replies I really appreciate it. I’ll get underneath and check it out, although I’m not very mechanically minded so it may have to be a job for the local VW workshop.
