It is an electric fuel pump down by the tank - it's fuel injection

Just added an amendment to original description.
Wait 30 seconds(ish), prime the fuel pump a couple of times and it will  start again at idle, then usually die as soon as I give it throttle. 
Do it again, and again.  Surely wouldn't even start again if it was spark?
