Re: 2.1 112 WBX Stutter, misfire and cutting out

Just had a read... symptoms sound quite similar! I'll change dizzy, rotor arm and leads as suggested and cross fingers! if not I know where to begin looking!

thanks!

Re: 2.1 112 WBX Stutter, misfire and cutting out

Hi Steve, I haven't changed them since I have owned the van in the last year. I have had a good check over it though when a previous problem arrived and all looked well. It's only once the engine has warmed up that this becomes an issue. Does that align with a problem there? thanks!

2.1 112 WBX Stutter, misfire and cutting out

Hi all, my 2.1 wbx 112 has gained a new issue. Two weeks ago I was experiencing misfiring on the motorway, I thought this was fixed when i found a snapped spark plug pin inside the lead. Changed all spark plugs and the van drove the rest of the journey with no issue. A couple of days later I went ou...

Re: 1989 - 2.1 petrol panel van - Overheating without heating!

Think its unlikely you knocked anything todo with the fab switch because I sure its either on the side or at the back face of the rad.i would test the fan and check to connection to it and the switch. I would also not expect the fan to come on with just a brief traffic light stop. Have you checked ...

Re: 1989 - 2.1 petrol panel van - Overheating without heating!

After going for a drive and getting everything circulating the heater began to work. We drove for an hour with heater turned off and there was so sign of overheating throughout the journey, motoroways and town driving. This was impossible prior to the changes, so already a huge improvement. However ...

Re: 1989 - 2.1 petrol panel van - Overheating without heating!

Thermostat has just been changed and we have drained as much from the cooling system as possible replaced liquids until header tank is full. Although I'm sure there cannot be 16 litres of coolant and water through. Any idea how to get more in? When we run the engine to temperature the heaters will n...

Re: 1989 - 2.1 petrol panel van - Overheating without heating!

Thanks for the reply! Is there an easy ay to drain/flush the whole cooling system so I can replace with all new coolant whilst I'm there? Thanks!

Re: 1989 - 2.1 petrol panel van - Overheating without heating!

Small update is that the previous owner has now let me know that the old thermostat was removed as it had rusted solid. New thermostat will be going in this weekend and if that solves nothing then the radiator next weekend. Is it necessary to do a full bleed when replacing the thermostat? I haven't ...

Re: 1989 - 2.1 petrol panel van - Overheating without heating!

Maybe committing to the Brickwerks one is best then in the long run!

Would it be worth testing the current radiator to ensure that's the issue before replacing completely or do all signs lead to that almost certainly being the problem?

Cheers!

Re: 1989 - 2.1 petrol panel van - Overheating without heating!

Thanks for the thorough reply! I'll begin by checking all the hoses as suggested and get the parts ordered. Earlier it was said I should get the thermostat from Brickwerks... should I get the radiator from there also? It's not the cheapest! around £160 for the wider rad. I'm going to attempt the wor...

Re: 1989 - 2.1 petrol panel van - Overheating without heating!

Thanks for the link... all a lot clearer now. I shall replace the thermostat that was taken out and hope for the best. Must I then bleed the radiator? As promised earlier here is a link to the photos of the engine bay and radiator - If you just copy and paste into the URL it should work. The images ...

Re: 1989 - 2.1 petrol panel van - Overheating without heating!

Hi Nevill3,

I have noticed this evening that the radiator fan only seemed to turn on once the engine was turned off. I drove around for half an hour to see what I noticed. I couldn't hear the fan switch on until I pulled over and switched off. Could this be the same thing?

Thanks!
