Re: 1.9DG to 2.1DJ engine swap
It's worth noting that youll be throwing a fair bit of money at a ground up build. If the heads are OK then you're gonna save about £800 or so, but you'd be best to check valves and guides on the current heads.. I think my build came in just under 3k... and that was without heads. For the money I c...

Re: 1.9DG to 2.1DJ engine swap
The crank is what makes the 1.9 to 2.1 different from what I recall.. also 1.9s generally use non stretch bolts in the rods and 2.1s use stretch ones. The 2.1 is really just a long stroke 1.9 with higher compression. 2.1MV has a lower compression due the the pistons being different as I understand i...

cleaning *eye twitch* don't remind me..

Could go up to about 2-3k in parts.

Re: 1.9DG to 2.1DJ engine swap
I noticed a difference from the dg to dj in terms of grunt. But I've no idea how tired my 1.9 was.. it was a recon put in a few years ago so it should have been fairly fresh.. but no idea of who did the rebuild. The 2.1 was also a semi rebuild with new rods, rings bearings and cam etc so.. it should...

Re: 1.9DG to 2.1DJ engine swap
rebuild 2 electric boogaloo. But Yeah I've done the swap. I changed thermostat housings to accomodate the extra coolant line for the oil cooler. Generally when you get your hands on a 2.1 it will have the oil cooler on it anyway its there for a reason so you might as well renew it.. unless the previ...

Re: New overheating problem (diesel) on road trip
Open the bleed valve on the radiator with it running and see if you get any air out of it. It should be hot all over when the engine is up to temp. Also check your heater, if that doesn't go hot or it goes hot cold hot cold then you got air in the system. so you'll need to top up the coolant.

Re: Colortune
I've been tempted to get one, just so Im not faffing pulling a plug or two every now and then to get them looking OK and adjusting the O2 screw til the plugs look right. I've also been tempted to get a wideband sensor and gauge instead as my exhaust has the bung for one.. but they are double the pri...
