measurements for air-cooled heater control cable brackets

Evening folks, If you're in the Derby/Notts area and don't mind someone measuring bits on your van could you contact me please. I'd like to come and measure up the heater control cable brackets that are on the rear chassis rails near the heater pods. Mine rotted off and I need to fabricate new ones ...

Rear crossmember behind valance dimensions

Howdy all, Does anyoe have or know where I can find the dimensions for the rear cross member that sits behind the rear valance? I'm in the middle of replacing the drip trays and the rear valance but my cross member is pretty rotten, I need to fabricate the 2 'wings' that go out from the chassis rail...

Re: photo of my CT engine for comments

Hi All, I have realised today that my engine is a CT not a CU as stated on the reg...although I think the seller advertised it as a 1986 1.6 come to think of it. The van is 1983 and the odometer is just over 17K, which I assumed to be 117K, but now I'm not so sure. Do you think the engine could be ...

Re: photo of my CT engine for comments

Thanks for the advice. Would it be legal to convert to lpg with this method, if I manage to find someone willing to do it?  Yes, technically not illegal, but won't comply with CoP11 guidelines, so can't be certified as such. Your insurance company may not like that, and you hit the nail with findin...

2.0 Aircooled flexi pipe exchanger to central alternative?

Anyone know what and who can supply decent alternatives for parts 6 and 7 on here? Pipe 7 on my bus is wrecked (age/weather and heat) but I'm not sure what folks are using as alternatives nowadays...

Re: 2.0 CU timing /running issue

sounds like either the dizzy has been moved round 180* on it's shaft (common thing esp. after rebuilds) or the vac isnt working on the dizzy - have you checked all the vac hoses are connected to the right places, there are a few of them on a std setup ;)

Re: 2.0 Aircooled cylinder head

you 'can' do this with the engine in situ however it's a real pain in the jacksy.. you have to bend tinware and fight with the tinware seal etc... dropping the engine is the easiest way if you have the means todo so. I've just done this on my bus for cylinders 1-2.. that said I've managed to do most...

Re: From CT to CJ Engine

5 grand?!  BLIMEY! you can get a recon elite engine for around 2K!

What exactly is up with the existing lump? the CT engine is very similar to a beetle/bay engine so the common spares are cheap and plentiful (heads/barrels/pistons etc)

Yes - most people seem very vocal about carbs and many have specific opinions about them
