A BIG no to Elite. They are cowboys.

Eeeak! What's wrong with elite engines? Just took delivery of a rebuild 2.0 CU engine from them albeit a couple of weeks behind schedule..

Re: Fuel pump issue?

No, I don't know, I'll have to get the Haynes manual out and crawl under and try to identify what's what. It's going in for major work in a few weeks so I'll tack this onto the jobsheet when I work out what it needs; is there a specific fuel line it needs there's a few available on brickworks..

Re: Air-cooled CU 2.0 engine replacement/refurbishment recommendations

Thanks, but I'm going for a refurbished engine as even though a second hand one might be a third of the price I don't want to be in the same position again miles down the line, I've already paid to have the engine pulled out once only a hundred miles ago to replace a popped RMS and frankly the engin...

Air-cooled CU 2.0 engine replacement/refurbishment recommendations

So the 2.0 CU has finally been condemned. It still runs and drives but bores are well worn and when hot it builds up excessive crankcase pressure pops the dipstick and leaks like a seive plus power down and hot idle gives oil light. So I've done some checking of what my options are given any DIY is ...

Fuel pump issue?

2.0 CU engine, it didn't want to start the other week after being sat for a few months, tried the obvious first and chucked 2 cans of fuel in which started it right up. Filled another 15L,Drove it a bit 20 odd miles then a gap of 2 weeks and another 15 or 20 miles then wouldn't start again without m...

Re: How much welding can a van take?

The problem especially with mot welding is two fold, not that many mechanics like welding and to do it properly as in for MOT critical bits is really time consuming as they have to do a decent job. Therefore it's not paid well unless you charge your normal hourly rate which generates a big bill or d...

Re: 12/240v cool box recommendation

Interesting, been served hot food and drinks out of these in various unsavoury places back in the day, they certainly seemed to work! I just picked up a dometic CRE50 on a deal to replace the ancient 3 way: with these 12v compressor fridges you hook them up direct to the leisure battery I assume wit...

Re: intermittant brake failure

You had a foot to the floor no brakes issue, if master cylinder not to blame and no obvious fluid leak, so air in the system or minor fluid leaks from calipers or rear cylinders, the front calipers do the main stopping power so that's where I would look to start with Are you absolutely sure fluid no...

Re: Stuck in third gear whilst driving

First easy thing to rule out is check hydraulic fluid level. Pop the dash pod cover thing and check your brake and clutch fluid level, they use the same reservoir and clutch comes off high up the reservoir so if fluid level drops due to any leak in either system you can start to lose clutch making ge...
