Re: carburettor

Looks like a 32/36 Weber as fitted to many 80's Fords and also a conversion on the 2.0 CU aurcooled motor.
Not 100% sure though.

Re: Non VW. Domestic 12v lighting

Easiest option is to bin all the transformers and replace with GU10 240volt bulb holders, simply swap, only 2 wires.  (approx £1.50 each from elecrtical trade counters) Then fit GU10 LED bulbs I get them from Home Bargains @ £1.49 -£1.99 each. I have done this at my place of work. Reduce fire risk a...

Cool, no problem.
Not had any issues with return sticking myself but there's always more than one way to skin a cat.

Re: Handbrake Cable for rear disc brake conversion

When I was searching for caliper carriers I came across some VW Golfs with different offset rear discs. The carrier angles back from the bolt mounting holes.

Re: Handbrake Cable for rear disc brake conversion

I used mk4 golf calipers. You have to use the flat caliper carrier not the offset ones. Mk3 golf, some mk4 golfs and early A3 & A4 all use the flat caliper carrier. 👍

Re: Handbrake Cable for rear disc brake conversion

Hi, just taken measurements, Sleeve length on cables 75mm & sleeve length on rod 60mm. Picture is sleeve on cable before crossmember. I used 15mm copper pipe on cables. Fits inside rubber housing nicely. This has worked faultlessly for the last 4-5 years. There may be another way of doing this (...

Re: Handbrake Cable for rear disc brake conversion

Yeah, the other 2 sleeves keep the outer cable just right. It was a bit trial and error when I did my conversion. I can measure what I fitted if helpful.
