Re: Engine Oil

I agree better have oil than worry too much about mixing them. I think regular changes are more than the exact type. Certainly in old canal boat engines we always used the mineral oil, but they were diesel.. for what it's worth I've settled in 10w40 semi synthetic from wherever, usually Wilco! Sent ...

Re: Drip from water pump

And the ending of the story is that the pipe attach to the water pump was loose. Tightening up the bolts had cured the leak. Thank you for all the help, I feel much better prepared for a water pump change should it become necessary now!

Re: Drip from water pump

Looking at the pump and giving it a spin with the belt off it feels like there is little to no play and it spins freely without squeeling or making odd noises or feeling bumpy. On closer inspection, it looks like the leak may be coming from the large pipe connected to the left have side of the pump,...

Re: Drip from water pump

So I read the wiki and it looks a bit involved... Should I be doing more diagnosis before diagnosing water pump? We are away visiting family in Wales so hoping to top it up and keep a very close eye on the levels hold to England but it's a bit scary [emoji15] Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

Drip from water pump

I just noticed a puddle under the van why when I stopped and a line of drips down the road. I ran the engine up to temperature and saw a persistent drip from the bottom of the water pump housing. I'm guessing I need to replace the water pump? Is it hard?

Re: Some advice on sealing the fridge vents

The paint looks very nice in the bonded panel. What did you use?

Re: Replacing wiper spindle

Not sure if this is the same part but I had success tapping a new thread into the wiper spindle body and bolting the wiper on from the outside, as per https://www.gowesty.com/tech-article-details.php?id=145" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Don't know if that's the same thing,...

Re: Fire suppression systems

You can get kits designed for boat engine bays from marine Chandlers if you want some variety of examples. I think in a bus bay you would definitely want something with a trace tube so the basic fire extinguishers which goes pop when it gets hot might be a bit basic but might be worth a look in case...

Re: Manky steering wheel

When I bought ours the wheel was horribly sticky.i actually used what I had to hand which were Eco friendly (apparently) baby wet wipes. Much rubbing came off horribly black but worked a treat.

Re: Petrolly smell

Just reading the wiki, I'm guessing a breather pipe is broken? Which means fuel getting on the top of the tank when filling up and one side is full and it's spilling over to the other via the breather pipe over the top of the tank?

Maybe I've got that wrong

Re: Petrolly smell

Thanks for the info, what should the be like? Presumably not blocked off with a bolt?

I have not looked at the manual about the fuel system but realise it's time ... Bit scared of petrol though!

Re: Petrolly smell

Update, it's definitely coming from the passenger side, the one away from the filler side. Here are two photos of the underneath on that side And one of the other side with the filter etc https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200608/c0f8fba4f7dce9efbca5c300d179f6e3.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/...
