Re: window installation procedure
So, the window is in! No real problems throughout the procedure. I used a jig saw which worked just fine. Finished the edges with a combination of a hand file, rotary sanding drum (on a standard electric drill), some sand paper here and there, and an angle grinder to cut through the interior panel ...

Re: B Post Pillar
sorry for intruding on this post but I've been trying to contact Plasticman about a reply to a post from 2016 to get more information about window seals. If you're out there Plasticman, what's the best way to contact you?

Re: window installation procedure
The 'web' size you mention (3.5mm) .... is this to account for the thickness of the seal between cut-out aperture and glass, or is this in addition to that thickness?
also, the insert strip that goes into the slot in the seal .... it is diamond-shape in profile, correct?

Re: window installation procedure
Thanks to both of you for your reply.
Maxstu, thanks for the photo, that helps. And, great of you to offer the tool (unfortunately I'm not near Margate though). Did you cut the window hole yourself, or were you simply replacing the glass?

window installation procedure
Hello Everyone, I recently purchased a second hand aftermarket sliding window (middle side) for a panel van conversion I’m doing and before I begin I just thought I’d post this question about installation technique: I am aware of the “trick” using a piece of cord inserted into the groove of the se...

alternator rebuild kit ?
Hello everyone,
I'm thinking of rebuilding my alternator but don't know where to get parts. Is there a kit available or must one buy components individually? It's a Bosch 14v 45A / 20. And, the vehicle is a 1983, 1.9L, water-cooled, petrol, panel van.
Thanks for reading.

Re: fuel and temperature gauges fail with headlights on
You’re correct in pointing out that I had not actually tested voltage using a meter, since, as I mentioned toward the begining of this thread, that I had no experience using the thing and was hoping someone could walk me through various testing procedures. I did take your advice regarding the ground...

Re: fuel and temperature gauges fail with headlights on
Yes, that's the type I installed. Thanks for clarifying the function of the terminals. On my van there is no socket to accept the middle (earth) terminal so (as you said) I'll need to find a way to attach it to the screw. But now that the screw only make contact with the plastic housing of the new v...

Yes, I did head the instructions on their website.
Any thoughts about the varying arrangements in the composite image I attached in my last message?

Re: fuel and temperature gauges fail with headlights on
Sorry everyone, I had no time to get to the volt regulator until yesterday. I've replaced it with the modern version sold by brickworks.co.uk. After a brief test, it now seems as if the fuel gauge works (even with headlights on) while the temp gauge fails all the time (with or without headlights on)...

Re: fuel and temperature gauges fail with headlights on
Here's a brief update: Started the van just now after having connected all the instrument panel wiring and switches and ensuring good connection with the dash volt regulator. Fuel gauge was working but the temp gauge did not move. Then after running the engine for about 4 or 5 minutes the fuel gauge...
