Old school mechanical ones are great. Seek out your local calibration house though if they are really old second hand.
A UKAS calibration cert is only £30-40 but a good idea if you dont know their history/treatment.

Re: Vernier gauge
Depends on what you are using it for really.

Re: A very basic question about paint
I have a few tins that are 5 years + and they are still ok.
As long as you give them a really good shake I give it to my hyper 5 year old with the lid taped on and just tell her when to stop shaking it usually about 5 minutes vs the usual two.

Go with what you actually need. If you carry a few dozen CD's about then do that. If you use Spotify on your phone then get a Bluetooth or aux connected item.

Re: JK 'extra thick' chrome bumpers
If they are off and brand new. it would be worth putting as many coats of a long lasting wax on as possible/ without feeling silly. Give them as much protection as possible especially while they are off as they do take alot of abuse over the years. A Spray on wheel sealant from halfrauds is a good o...

Re: JK 'extra thick' chrome bumpers
(Sorry for the slight hi-jack) I have some original VW chrome bumpers in my loft.
I guess they aren't available from VW any more. Seeing how much some of the traders are asking for repro are they worth anything significant?
Thanks,
Ben.
