When we got our van I considered spending £££s on rust, arches, steps etc but then I changed my mind and spent significantly less changing the garage door so that it can stay in the dry.
The rusty bits haven't got much worse or maybe I have just learnt to live with them.

Re: Sliding door switch & interior lighting?
I think Devon made a conscious decision to disable the sliding door light because campers would have the door open all day?

Re: removing hi top
In days gone by I removed a roof from a Citroen DS (they were glass fibre and bonded on to a metal frame). The trick I was taught was to organise plenty of jacks and bits of wood inside to exert continuous firm pressure upwards from the inside, then warm the bonding with a hot air gun and increase p...

Re: Louvered window design fault from the '80s
Ah well, I've had a good look and it won't work out. The vertical alloy mouldings which have the glass holders on them include the flange that makes the unit's edge and if I move the central ones out to the ends they won't be long enough. In principle it is quite cleverly done but mine is not so cle...

Re: Louvered window design fault from the '80s
I took the unit out a few months ago to attack the rust, sharp edges fought back but fingers are more or less healed now. I should have taken notice of what I was looking at, I'm sort of thinking that it all undoes and can be re-assembled in a different order by swapping the two windows over. Just...

Louvered window design fault from the '80s
If you open our cooker lid you can't open the louvered windows. Excellent! So, the question is, can you dismantle a louvered window and put it back together so that the opening handles are on the ends of the window (by swapping the left hand one for the right hand one). Anyone done this? (Cor, I li...

Re: Best (?) compressor cool box
I think I may have seen one of those in the flesh. Does the compressor run when only on 12v?

I should add that I am looking for one where the compressor runs on 12v not just 240v, if such a thing exists.

Best (?) compressor cool box
I know this subject has come up before but what is the current favourite when it comes to compressor cool boxes?
Some of these seem seriously expensive so any suggestions regarding 'unknown' brands very welcome.

Re: Damaged pop-top roof - newbie looking for advice!
Look for a mobile glass fibre repair bloke in your area, there are plenty in Sussex/Hampshire because there are plenty of boats so there must be some in Kent. Generally not that bad £££ wise and results can be invisible, at least for the first few years. Obviously a repair will still be shiny when t...

Re: Radiator fan not kicking in
Is there a way of testing the fan switch without removal?
I'm disinclined to go searching for traffic jams with cardboard taped over the radiator...
Also, I assume a two speed fan is a single fan with two speeds, not two fans?!
