Re: Running lean
Many thanks for the suggestions. I will start by going over the pipework etc using the WD 40 trick to be followed by a visit to athe garage with the testing kit. Three questions about the mixture screw: Does the screw control air or fuel to adjust the mixture? Is it 'in' for leaner and 'out' for ric...

Re: Running lean
Running beautifully and no sign of any air leaks that I can find which is why I am reluctant to fiddle.
(If a Pierberg has butterfly spindles I suppose they could be worn after 130k and letting in air?)

Thanks all.
Regarding the mixture screw is it 'in' for leaner and 'out' for richer?

Running lean
Whilst doing the MOT the tester, old school, showed me the screen on his machine that tests emissions. On the only relevant test (Co2?) the maximum permissible figure was 4.0 something. Our camper was registering 0.2 something. He pointed this out and said it was obviously running lean. I should hav...

Re: Welding and panel working tools
Might be sacrilege but has anyone experience of using panel adhesives in place of welding?
Of course on non structural panels...

Don't forget that there are pop tops with solid sides. Best of both worlds.

Re: Rear brake balance
Thanks all.
Now I come to think about it the brake fluid will be at least 6 years old.
The handbrake is part of the MOT but as I understand it handbrake balance isn't. I know, that doesn't seem to make a lot of sense...

Rear brake balance
Our camper has just passed the mot but with an advisory that the rear brakes are imbalanced, driver's side being the weaker. While it was on the rollers I asked him to check the balance of the handbrake (not in the MOT). This was fine. My thinking behind this being that if handbrake adjustment was f...

Re: Starting after being left for a few weeks
Lots of ideas here but a warning about those boat primer bulbs. Those that I have tried react badly to 'new' petrol and go quite hard before splitting when squeezed really hard.

Re: Starting after being left for a few weeks
Thanks for that, it all seems a bit complicated though and I still don't understand what is causing the problem.
Surely they didn't have this problem when new?

Re: Starting after being left for a few weeks
So...can I keep the mechanical pump for running and install a small in line pump for 'priming'? Can the mechanical pump pull or push fuel through an electric pump when it is not running? Where would it be best to install the electrical one? Near tank or near carb? How would I know when it has done i...

Starting after being left for a few weeks
It takes 40 seconds to start if left for a few weeks. Our 1.9DG has always had a problem. In normal use starting is absolutely fine but leave the van for a couple of weeks and it will take around 40 seconds of churning to get the fuel back up to the carb, then it starts instantly and runs well. I do...

Re: Recommendations for keeping the T25 outside
Don't put a cover on the van unless it is nice and dry. Obvious really but you want to keep moisture out rather than in!
