Re: Updating/re-covering cupboard units

I've had really old a drab looking units in mine. I purchased these faux tiles from home bargains. Not sure if its to everyone's taste; but its definitely given it some life!

Re: Awning rail

I'm not that handy when it comes to drilling and stuff, but I always give things a try. I was nervous too when thinking of drilling into the fibre glass; but if done properly, with patience; then all is good. I purchased one of these https://camperessentials.co.uk/product/vw-t25-awning-rail-one-piec...

Re: Radiator fan not kicking in

Yes, a pat on the back to you !  well done sticking with it .  plusgas would have been better than wd40 ( plusgas is a penetrating fluid , WD40 is just a water dispelling lubricant!)  keep us updated on any developments though....... now go have a celebratory mug of tea and a choccy biscuit!  :rofl...

Re: Radiator fan not kicking in

Oh my "feck" god! After hours of reading, contemplating, reading some more. Ive plucked up the courage to replace the thermostat. Not easy to get too and was wary that the two 10ml bolts (long and short) might be ceased. Bit of patience and some WD40; and low and behold I've managed to replace the t...

Re: Radiator fan not kicking in

Right well then a look see at the temp sender for the gauge would be my next move, unplug it , clean up the connections , dirty connections change the resistance the gauge needs to see . Ultimately change the sender for a new one ... it’s one of two in the thermostat housing on a late van , the one...

Re: Radiator fan not kicking in

Ok,  we need a recap here ( well I do , I’m in three of these similar conversations recently ) so new rad , new rad fan switch , not appearing to over heat if the heater temp is anything to go by , but showing hotter than is used to on the gauge , and getting there very quickly from start up ? Yes ...

Re: Radiator fan not kicking in

Then after that I would expect the rad to be hot to the touch.  It wouldn’t surprise me to find that your thermostat is fine , but that your rad is pretty much blocked , if it’s original . The coolant coming out to the bleed screw doesn’t mean the coolant is going round the cooling pipes . you real...

Re: Radiator fan not kicking in

Did the fan used to come on after your drive to work? I wouldn't expect the fan to come on after 25miles of mway driving. One of the only times my fan has come on was after being on the ramps with engine running for over an hour during an mot test. The other time was driving from crewe to Plymouth ...

Re: Radiator fan not kicking in

Before you even think of Messina thermostst housing heckington if there is even a issue .... get thermometer on the pipes ( ideally a infrared one to male the job easy ) before and after the thermostat , and then at the rad , I would not expect to even think of hearing my fan come on in the current...

Re: Radiator fan not kicking in

Right, I've replaced the fan switch for a second time. I've carried out all the advice again up to this point. Process of elimination, having placed my hand against the rad, its barely warm. This im guessing leads to a different fault. Could it be the thermostat? Maybe its stuck? I know that there's...

lefty67 wrote: 19 Jul 2020, 20:44 Are you sure its getting hot enough to come on?

Not sure...I'm wondering whether its a stuck thermostat. God knows how I even tackle that! Zero knowledge of engines, wouldn't know where to start.

Re: Radiator fan not kicking in

Am absolutely stumped! I know that the fan works, I've bridged the wires. I've replaced the radiator switch. I've drained and refilled the coolant. Could it be the thermostat? Wouldn't know where that is...and wouldn't know where to start! Everyone has been really helpful; and although some advise i...

Re: Radiator fan not kicking in

Right, well I'm off work tomorrow, so gonna keep messing, vaping and scratching my head trying to figure it out. Brickwerks said its unlikely to be a faulty switch; and I trust them with that. Having read about chicken switches, there is a switch on the dash just to the right of the steering wheel. ...

Re: Radiator fan not kicking in

Hi again, thanks for all the advice. I've managed to bridge the switch and the fan works. I've replaced the switch from Brickwerks also. I've blead the coolant and refilled with blue coolant. I was sat in traffic the other day and still no fan kicking in! Fuse good too. Could it be the thermostat?
