Re: Question about Stance / Width of Wheels

ah, interesting, so technically a van like the one in the picture would actually be illegal.

thanks for the replies. I love the Penta alloys but they go for a lot of money.

Question about Stance / Width of Wheels

Hello, please excuse my complete lack of knowledge about wheels, I was wondering how you go about a wider stance with wheels that sit a little bit further out. See the attached pic as an example. Is it just the width of the wheels you have fitted? Or do you fit spacers on the hub with longer studs? ...

Re: Black Diamond Pads and Discs - fitting problems

just a quick follow up to this, sorry for the lateness but only just got around to it. The Black Diamond pads fitted fine in the end. I bought a caliper retracting tool and also spent a bit more time filing away the rust and brake dust build-up in there, and the pads sat in there ok. In case you're ...

Re: Black Diamond Pads and Discs - fitting problems

Measure the space for pads within the caliper and compare that to the pad+pad+caliper measurement Should be easy to check that dimension with BW without having to ship pads. Also check that the disc > caliper distance is equal front and rear of the disc Caliper wind back tools are handy to have and...

Re: Black Diamond Pads and Discs - fitting problems

Hi, Shall I just file away 2mm of material off each new brake pad? Seems a bit of a shame as they're brand spankers and they cost me a fair bit. But I can't see any other way to get them to fit in there... Anybody else had this problem? Anybody got any top tips? Thanks in advance, have a good weeke...

Black Diamond Pads and Discs - fitting problems

Hi, my brakes are the later Girling / 2 pin sliding type. I purchased the Black Diamond pads and Discs from Brickwerks because I wanted the better performance and the better heat dissipation on the long descents, especially with a fully loaded van on holiday in a mountainous area. All was going well...

Gearbox Work in London

Good evening everybody, long story short I need somebody to replace the mainshaft bearing in my 5sp box (a bit noisey with the clutch out in neutral, a bit lurchey in lowest gears, also small oil leak from that area). At least I think that's what I need, I'd be more than happy to take the advice of ...

Hi, drumsofdoom, just wonder if you would be interested in sharing your experience with Peacocks, i’m also looking for a garage SE London area to carry out some bodywork repairs. Thanks Michael Hi Michael, I would say overall that I wouldn't go to Peacocks again. Yes they were cheaper than other qu...

Idle a bit up and down

Hi everybody, my 2.1 generally runs pretty sweet but just lately the idle is a bit revvy, up and down somewhat. I’ll make a vid tomorrow morning to show what I mean but do you think it might be a timing issue? Or possibly a vacuum leak?

Thanks for any input. Video coming soon.

Re: Bodywork Recommendations in SE London

Thanks for the tip, peacocks seemed great and the price quoted seemed pretty reasonable so the vans going there next week. There was an auto sleeper there already getting a respray, wondered if that was yours? I’ll post pics when I get the van back and report back on the quality of work.

Bodywork Recommendations in SE London

Hi Everybody, getting married this summer and of course the van is going to feature quite prominently on the day, as well going away on our honeymoon in it. Going around the Hebrides (Barra, Uist, Lewis and Harris), it's going to be amazing and I can't wait! I want the van to look as tidy as possibl...

Split in Coolant Level Sensor

Hello everybody, check out my coolant level sensor! No wonder it was leaking. If you have a pool of coolant around the sensor be sure to check the unit itself, not just the o-ring. BW replacement: https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/coolant-level-sensor-clip-on.html" onclick="window.open(this.hre...
