Re: 1984 Caravelle
Really great van. Always keep an eye on your updates as it's set the benchmark for where i'd like to get by blue 87 caravelle to. The mefro 16s look great, a real shame that Mefro are no longer making these (so I understand). Looking at the rock and roll bed, it doesn't look like any which I've seen...

Thanks for a great write up as always itchyfeet,
Any thoughts on decent timing guns at a reasonable price?
Cheers,
Benn

Re: Thermostat Hob Test: Height Range for 1.9 DG
Thanks for the assistance all. Unfortunately, comparison with the existing wasn't possible, as there was no existing thermostat in there! Now makes sense as to why it had been running cool.. Nonetheless, the new stat behaved as expected during the hob test. Just to check, I've fitted it as per the p...

Thermostat Hob Test: Height Range for 1.9 DG
Hi all, My engine has been running cold since I got it. In an effort to solve the issue. I'm planning on fitting a new thermostat (this one: https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/t3-parts/engine/petrol/watercooled-engine-wbx/cooling-system/thermostat-t3-wbx-1-9l-2-1l.html ) this weekend. I was going to test ...

Re: 1.9 DG - Spark Plug Condition
A1winchester - yes, I always do a slow depression of the accelerator and return before starting, after the coolant warning light has stopped flashing. I trust this is the correct sequence? Nonetheless, in short, I got it running and dare I say, I’m pretty pleased with myself for doing so as a novice...

Re: 1.9 DG - Spark Plug Condition
Had some time on this yesterday and am still having trouble. 300CE- I have about a ¼ tank left. I’ll add some fresh when I return to the van. Checked the dizzy cap and all’s looking fine. I’ve looked to determine whether we are looking at an electrical issue, or fuel supply. Despite the abovemention...

Re: 1.9 DG - Spark Plug Condition
Thanks itchyfeet. Will do a re check on the coil and order a replacement if needed.
Fuel definitely into the square hole? I thought it was meant to be into the round hole as per diagram in my previous post.
Will try opening the choke flap.
Cheers,
Ben

Re: 1.9 DG - Spark Plug Condition
Thanks for the assistance itchyfeet. :ok Comforting to hear that there’s nothing obviously untoward. I hadn’t thought of the potential for corrosion due to the exhaust valve being open. Given the time for which the van’s been left without having been turned over and the weather it would seem sensibl...

1.9 DG - Spark Plug Condition
Hi all, I'm lucky to be allowed to store my van in the in-laws' barn over the winter. I then just give it a run each time we pop over (being able to take the van out for a run makes it more bearable  ). We haven't been over for what must be at least eight weeks so went in to start her up yeste...

Re: RHD Westy Joker Interior
ajsimmo - apologies, should have mentioned in my post that I had come across that page on the westfaliat3 website. Sourcing one of those would be perfect, but I'm assuming that they're rare as rocking horse doo doo??? Thanks for the link volks_womble. I'm beginning to think that sourcing a LHD inter...

RHD Westy Joker Interior
Hi all, First post on here, albeit I’ve been a keen watcher of the forum over the past 12 months or so, and particularly since last May when I bought my first T25 after years of owning beetles. So far, I can’t say enough about the T3 scene. Everyone I’ve spoken to or dealt with has been fantastic an...

Re: rear wiper motor
Just a quick note for any one who comes across this thread. I replaced mine with a motor from Mk2 golf. Fitted perfectly and works a treat. Looks to be exactly the same motor as was used on T25s, but a lot cheaper second hand!
