Re: Re-spray inspiration

You can paint a GRP Hi top with metallic paint. It will highlight imperfections. I prefer the all one colour look.

Fair point. I assumed it was already empty.

Re: Westy gas tank....slightly broke it.....

Have you tried a flexible pipe on the end of the hoover to suck it out.
(Stands by for mention in out of context thread)

Re: How to choose tyres?

I have some experience of drivers who use high performance vehicles on winter tyres and expect them to perform the same as summer tyres do in July, well they don't. Clearly, that'd just be daft of the driver. The question is more one of whether they outperform normal summer tyres in those same cond...

Re: How to choose tyres?

I examine tyres as part of my work, normally on crash damaged cars. I have had various training including some from Michelin, I am not the last word in tyres... but this is how I see it. I would like to buy the most expensive tyres but I don't because I can't afford them. I think whatever you buy to...

Re: Fuel pump alternative to a 2.1DJ

Similar Bosch inline pumps were fitted to loads of early fuel injection cars, such as ford vauhall and bmw. There are loads of clones and pattern parts. Flow rates and pressures are fairly standard but the end pipe connections vary. Have a search on Google or eBay for Bosch inline injection pump.

Re: SVX eg33 st,st,stuttering

It's very hard to guess but similar symptoms with my eg25 turned out to be the air flow meter. You could try cleaning it or if you have a spare swap them over.

Re: H.I.D LIGHTS

So in summary when incorrectly retrofitted Don't comply with Type Approval Don't comply with MOT Don't comply with Road Vehicle Lighting Regs and could get you a prohibition notice because they are likely to cause dazzle when use of dipped beam is obligatory A fairly reasonable argument of being un ...

Re: Vapour lock

You are right, once the heat is taken away the water vapour is reabsorbed into the brake fluid, so the sponginess goes away again. It's not air that is in the system but water vapour produced when the water contaminants in the brake fluid boil. The only way to get rid is to change the fluid and flus...

Re: Vapour lock

Jeff, sorry you didn't find my answer helpful, but from what you describe that's where I would start. OK it was brief, but I thought I would try to help before I went to work this morning. As pointed out brake fluid degrades and needs periodic replacement, but it is often neglected and subsequently ...

Re: Vapour lock

As a start you want your fluid changed and the whole system thoroughly bled through. The symptoms indicate a problem and it won't go away by ignoring it.

Re: MOT fail if speedo in kilometres?

Its one of the areas where the MOT differs from Construction and Use requirements. By law (unless van built before 1984) you are required to have a speedo which can display MPH, but this isn't part of the MOT test. Regulation 35..."every motor vehicle shall be fitted with a speedometer which, i...
