Re: Eberspacher BA6 Project
I heard of a case where someone accidentally fitted 8v glow plugs in their Audi TDi. They apparently looked identical to the the original but were actually from a later year. The 12v supply burned them and they cracked into fragments which apparently did disastrous things to their engine innards. At...

Re: Whistling quarterlight
I found black Sugru to be ideal for repairs to window rubbers and it would be a permanent option if the tape or Vaseline do stop the noise.

Re: Leisure or starter battery
I’ve been running my diesel heater in my van using a secondary battery which is a 35amp hour starter battery from a Smart car that was completely drained so it wouldn’t start the car anymore. It runs the heater fine and lasts for hours no problem. The initial draw of 8-9 amps doesn’t last too long s...

Re: Mixing anti freeze moment of madness
I’m not sure if this will help but if it reacts to produce a gel-like sludge then you might be able to ‘back it up’ out of narrow passages by removing the pipes and running a water flow from a hose backwards through your heat exchangers and other areas where pipe diameters narrow. I’ve seen it done ...

Re: Stainless steel coolant pipe brackets
You can get stainless steel cable tie style strips. They seem to use a barbed one way catch. I’ve used them on an exhaust and a Webasto with no problems. They are hard to twist and very sharp so wear gloves and plan your routes. Bending is fine but any kind of sideways twist is tricky. Sent from my ...

Re: Roof rack on a high top?
I’m sure that there is a rear hatch hung Kampa tent which does as you describe. Except it reaches the ground. I too fitted the standard gas lifts and it’s definitely almost picked med up a time or two. You need to be prepared! [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY] The reason I chose a side awning in the end was ...

Re: Turning mt t25 into a 5 seater?!
A lot of modern taxis use a folding buddy seat which is connected backwards to the front passenger seat back/base and spring mounted. Buses uses these too. The rear facing seat is probably safer from the point of view of likely forces. Rapid deceleration to a stop is the biggest probability in a cra...

Can I put a picture of my engine on here and have a full team diagnostic as well? This is fantastic!

Re: Coolant issue
I put a big bit of cardboard under mine and ran the engine for a little while. The wet patch was very clear. It only dripped when revving a little and stopped at idle or off - was a loose clip (had snapped at the back so little tension on the hose) I also tried a UV coolant dye and a UV torch but th...

Re: Cable/wiring rating
single strand can carry less than multi strand Other way BS7671 states you must derate stranded cables by 5% over solid of the same CSA. unless I misunderstood? I think you are right Itchy - if the overall copper conductor is the same diameter the multi core will inevitably have small gaps between ...

Re: Hot start issue and running out of electricity
You know, I have no idea about the alternator on a van but my regulator for my car is set for around 14.4v.
13 point anything seems rather low - is that normal? Can you check the voltage produced on the alternator directly?

Re: Kill switch
Chrisfix on YouTube does a good kill switch video and talks about the principles.
His fix is a fuel pump cutoff and his suggested location won’t work in a bus but still a good video.

Re: EFB Battery???
I suspect either a FULLY DEAD battery or a parasitic drain. My ‘leisure battery’ is a teensy starter battery from a Smart Fortwo that suffered a catastrophically deep discharge and it STILL performs better than the battery you are describing after a few years of ongoing misuse by me You might have a...

If you take a washable marker pen and draw on the paper/rags you wrap round any suspected areas of leakage it will show if it has leaked and then dried - the pen runs. Handy for hot leaks.
