Re: Seem Rash (Camper & Bus)

I find Sudocrem is better on the hole, sorry whole. But seriously all things considered I think they've lasted a lot longer than other makes. You don't see many 1980's Fiat's still on the road do you?

Put a photo on here of where you want to attach the awning, somebody will no doubt have a similar set up and advise you. Good luck in getting a drive away awning, at the moment they're like hens teeth.

As usual last minute government guidance that's as clear as mud. Thankfully mine's a diesel so I haven't got this problem yet, there are a few modern motors that are affected by this though so worth checking.

Re: Early 1981 air-cooled not starting after fusebox cleanup

Have you checked the main fuse? You could have tripped it, it's the plastic box in the engine bay, left hand side, where all the wires go to.

Re: New headlights

Very nice, I've seen them on some US T3's. Are they a straight swap, where from and how much ? Are they UK legal ?

Re: brakes

Common problem if it's been standing a while. I leave mine in gear and the handbrake off if it's not going anywhere for a while.

Totally spoils the aerodynamics imho. What's wrong with the sink anyway?

Re: Any body else partial to a sniff?

Yep one of my guilty pleasures too. Mines off the road at the moment but I open the slider and stick my head in and have a good sniff just to get a quick fix but then they do say smell triggers memories.

Re: Trouble starting when hot

Could be fuel evaporating from the carb if its just turning over but not firing up. Check the carb float for signs of heat damage.

Re: Poor hot start but once it does it will fire again and again

I had this problem with my first bus, it turned over but wouldn't fire up when hot, I came to the conclusion it was because the petrol was evaporating out of the carb. When I got it looked at the heat had melted the float on the valve in the carb.

Quick/Short Shift On Diesels

Has anybody fitted a short shift to a diesel? I know it's a bit more involved than the petrol version as it has to be done underneath from the spare bay. I've looked pretty much everywhere online (google  ) and found very little. Any advice please ??
