Hi,
With the improved weather, I'm going to have a look at fixing the engine.
Hopefully, I've not inadvertently turned the engine over with the distributor in the wrong position, If I have done that can you get the distributor back in the correct place?

Re: Misfiring
This sounds more like intermittent fuel pump. If it’s sparking at the plugs. My one use to cut out then work. Was a bugg*er to start sometimes then run like a dream. Ended up putting on an electric pump so I could hear it working. Problem sorted!!! Have you checked your getting fuel when not starti...

Re: Rotor Arms
Cheers.
The engine hasn't been turned over without the distributor being in place so hopefully nothing too bad has happened.

Rotor Arms
Hi,
I'm trying to set up my timing and have a question.
When the engine is turned over, the arm doesn't spin round, even though it's fully seated in place? It seems to have done it since I tried to move the dizzy body, have I moved something out of place.
Cheers

Re: Misfiring
Hi,
Being a novice, I didn't mark the distributor body but took a photo of the position of the distributor as I thought that would be enough...
Cheers from everyone's help.

Re: Ignition Timing Marks
Cheers for the link JRT, I've already read it and still have questions.
In the 1.9DG section,if it's out then how do you tell it's out?
My engine isn't starting so I'm checking the timing just to check it''not the reason.

Ignition Timing Marks
Hi,
I'm going to be using an ignition timing light for the first time tomorrow and despite all the reading and YouTube watching I've done still have a question
Do you use the TDC or BTDC marks?
Cheers.

Yes we do have a spark, surely it's the timing now?

I will have a check in the morning.
As the van was starting fine from cold before, I'd just assumed it was timing related.

Re: Misfiring
Hi, I've finally had time to replace the hall sensor. Everything is now back in and the van now won't start, even with Easy Start!!! I presume I've knocked the timing out when putting the distributor back in, despite being careful. Now I've never used a timing gun before, what mark do you use on a T...

Re: Misfiring
Hi,
The distributor is going to have to come off the engine as I can't get the the dissy cover off. I've not taken I a dissy off the van yet so I'm reading up on how to do it will return to it tomorrow.
Thanks all.
