Passenger Compartment Heating Control ('82 CU)
I'm looking for information on the heating control cable etc. for the vent mounted in the floor of the passenger compartment on an Aircooled CU 1982 van. I stripped it down in 2018, now I'm putting it back together again and looking for control cables. 7zap etc. just show 'No Longer Available' for t...

Camshaft and Gear Torque?
Aircooled 2.0ltr CU Engine Hi everyone, I've finally bought a new camshaft for my van as my old one is pretty worn. I've purchased the shaft, gear and bolts from VW Heritage, but I can't find the torque values for assembly. I obviously don't want to over/under tighten them. I've asked VW Heritage an...

Engine Mounting Bolts Part Number? (to chassis)
2.0 ltr CU Engine
Hi,
Does anyone know the part number (or spec) for the mounting bolts where the engine support arm bolts to the chassis?
Can't seem to find them anywhere.
Cheers,
Andy.

Re: Sliding Door Window Sizes
20mm difference. That’s about the size of the filler piece, so it looks like that’s what they’ve done.
Thanks again multisi.
I’ll try and find an early sized window. Failing that, I’ll have to make improvements to what they’ve done. It’s a bit of a mess.

Sliding Door Window Sizes
Hi, Looking through the forum I've found a post that mentions there are two sizes for the window for the sliding door window. I've only been able to find a mention to 'early' or 'late'. I'm not sure what a previous owner has done to my van. I have this- Door Glass.JPG (image is 90deg on it's side) T...

Re: Oil Pump Removal (CU Engine)
Thanks guys,
I’ll try releasing the crank bolts. See how that goes.
I didn’t think it would be such a tight fit.
Cheers.

Oil Pump Removal (CU Engine)
Back again with another problem... This one is with removing the oil pump from the crankcase on an Aircooled 2.0ltr CU engine. (engine is removed) So, I've removed the four nuts and I've been levering against the two tabs at the same time as instructed in the Haynes manual, but it won't move. How mu...

Re: TDC Sensor Removal (CU Engine)
Everything else is being removed from the case. I was going to remove this too before steam cleaning. Plus, the wire has snapped off by the plastic part sticking out of the case. I was going to repair it.

Re: TDC Sensor Removal (CU Engine)
So does it just push out?
Fully stripping the case of all components and the wire has snapped.

TDC Sensor Removal (CU Engine)
Hoping this is a simple one...
Has anyone removed the TDC electrical sensor from the crankcase on an Aircooled 2ltr CU engine before?
Case is stripped. I know it has to be removed out towards where the flywheel was, but it won't budge.
I don't want to force it.

Re: CU Engine Cylinder Seals??
When I removed the valves and cleaned the head I noticed that there wasn't any seals. I assumed that there should be some and they were just another corner that had been cut during the life of the van. Guide.jpg After looking on various websites I was seeing seals for some T25's, but not for a CU. I...
