Re: Manky steering wheel

Mine was the same when I got it. Used it as a daily and have to parallel park. My sweaty mitts soon cleaned it all up.

Re: How far do you need to drive to check fridge on car battery power?

Hiya Hugh, They’re simple beasts really. They need heat to drive the circulation of the coolant. In reality running it on gas will be the most common use of it unless you always camp with electrical hookups in which case the 240v will be your friend. I tend to put some freezer blocks into it when I ...

Re: Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!

Here are a couple of pictures. I thought I’d do the roof first as an exploration then work around the van section by section. Took in total around 25 hours with prep and paint to do it. I ummed and ahhed about filling the dents in the cross bits of the roof that you can see… Figured they’re hardly g...

Re: Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!

(EDIT- just noted an earlier comment from Covid saying you can’t roller paint with the matt like you can with the gloss.)

Hi Albert- I have just done the roof of my t25 in ral3005 from here:

rawlins paints

They have a range of colours and seem to offer a matt option on the drop down….

Re: Big Blue Van - Full Restoration

Just wanted to say a big thank you for taking the time to document and share your work here. It’s incredible to see the care, attention, patience and skill you are putting into your restoration. It’s also really helpful to be able to see all the panels and sections to understand how they go together...

Re: Interior Lighting Questions

With the caveat that my set up is a bit of a hedge podge updating/replacing po’s home made wiring, I’ve found some really useful guidance and so on here: https://www.rayneautomotive.co.uk/ This was also useful albeit it more for when updating battery/alternator/starter wiring: https://www.12voltplan...

Re: battery drain on ignition system?

Hi @spanishfly not sure what to suggest here I’m afraid. Has your van got anything like the headlight relay upgrade? In mine that is wired direct the batter with its own in line fuses. Just being systematic seems the only way with these electrical gremlins. Re my issues a replacement battery has res...

Re: battery drain on ignition system?

Thanks all- I’ve been reaching the conclusion that this was the battery’s death throes as it has deteriorated further. Moki, I have confirmed that there is no draw from the hedgehog when the ignition is off. Will get the battery tested and if necessary replaces this week and update here if any issue...

Re: battery drain on ignition system?

Okay, so manifold preheater relay is replaced and I’ve checked the resistance between the power supply to the hedgehog and an earth and it’s 0 ohms. From what I’ve been reading that’s maybe okay when it’s cold but it should heat up quickly and then the power draw drops as the temperature rises… is t...

Re: battery drain on ignition system?

Looking on Brickwerks I’ve ordered a replacement relay. Makes sense to replace it anyway I reckon. Eliminate that from the equation.

Also found this thread on here for same issue- https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=80610

Re: battery drain on ignition system?

So, having pulled the connection for the manifold heater the battery voltage stabilises. 👍 . I’ve located the relay and traced the connections- a power in from somewhere. A purple one that comes from the coolant system and two brown wires (earths I’m guessing). So what is the next step… I could take...

battery drain on ignition system?

Hi folks, I've got an issues with my cranking battery as follows: It is quickly flat when I leave the keys in with the ignition on - quickly as in a minute or two - (courtesy lights switched off!) A voltmeter gives the following readings between the terminals: Ignition off: 12.6 v and steady - (hold...
